Ignition recall

There are really only a couple of options:
1) If you are worried, get a loaner car from the dealer and they will fix it within about 30 days.
2) If you are not worried, put your name on the list, the dealer will order the part and call you when it gets in. Could take a few months - but you are not worried so you don't care.
Some people try to "invent" a 3rd option ... don't take the loaner car and then complain it's taking too long. But there really is no third option.
Everybody gets a turn in the barrel. It's GM's turn right now. They messed up - the key switches have problems (some more than others) what can you say other than select option 1 or option 2.
Also keep in mind other companies have problems. Remember Toyota had to recall the Prius since they were having runaway cars ... I seem to recall some sort of floor mat issue that blocked pedals and people losing control of the cars - might have been software as well. Isn't the Prius a flagship kind of car for Toyota? So even the mighty Japanese get caught up with recalls and design flaws. I think a few other companies had problems (like every single car manufacturer that ever existed or will ever exist). Everybody gets a turn in the barrel ... sorry, it's just part of life.

I'm not overly worried either. I know the risk is not zero but it's low with nothing on the key ring. Neither of my cars has ever shut off. I don't think they will. I crashed my Redline .... and it was still running afterwards ... and there were other keys on the key ring.
I do know some folks have cars that have the nasty habit of shutting off - on more than one occasion. I'd be getting a loaner car if that was the case.

They wont put a push to start in the cobalts, that would require additional sensor modifications to the ECU which given the different ECU's between models extremely difficult for something novel in terms for a non production car.

My car was at the dealer for 28 days and I've had it back for about a week now. I just got a call from them saying that they forgot to replace the cylinder. What the ****.

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share our GM video regarding the testing of the single ignition key use in the vehicle, and the tests gone through using a Cobalt. Feel free to watch it and head over to gmignitionupdate.com for more information. Have a great weekend everyone, and don't forget to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns!
