Legal tint Vs. Illegal tint.
I'm thinking about getting 20% tint on the G5 (35% is legal in WA) what does everyone think, will it just be nothing but problems going with the illegal tint or do cops really care? now I know cops are different everywhere but what type of experiences have you all had with your illegal tint?

I never thought they did til I got pulled last week. I'm 35% all the way around. When he tested me I was like, 31-32% but he let me go. Wasn't even a regular cop, it was a DOT guy. Before that I wished I had gone 20%. It looks better but, I was tired of getting hassled for stupid stuff. Now I'm glad I didn't.

On my old car I had 20% all around, and here in WI the drivers and passanger front windows have to be 50%, the rest can be 35%. No one ever looked at me, and I never had any problems. As long as you drive sane and dont draw any attention to yourself you should be fine with whatever.

70 % legal limit? Damn glad I don't live in PA. I think it all has to do with the counties you live in. Thats pretty much what matters here. And it has a lot to do with the car you drive. I haven't had any problems with the balt yet *knock on wood* but I had a grand am for a short while and caused nothing but problems. Had 20% in the front, had a cop pull me over for it but wasn't ticketed. For that at least.
Was thinking of getting mine done soon, 5% in back and possibly 30 in front. 35 is limit here.

well, sounds like ill just get 35% just so I dont have any trouble, cause the car is bright orange and I'm basicly the only orange car in my area (small town) so im sure it catches cops eyes lol

On my Silver cobalt the 35% looked really good, but the same tint on my friends black civic looked like crap, seemed like you could see through it more on the black car. so call me crazy but I think the contrast from the black tint on a silver car made the tint look darker than it was. lol

Hey i live in the seattle area, been in WA my whole life. My S-10 had 20% maybe darker never got pulled over for it or a ticket. Now my redline i have 20% on the sides and rear is limo tint and then blacked out my tails and still havent got a ticket. WA police/cops arent really looking to bust people for tint anymore cuz most cars come with tint from factory anyways so its hard to tell whats stock and whats not.

35% is legal here, I went with it at first... way too light
have went to 20% since, not even pulled over yet:

doesn't even look ******* tinted
20% tint
just right

On my SS I have 30% on the sides and 15% on the rear, both of which are Llumar CTX. The windshield and sunroof are done in Llumar AirBlue 80 which is designed to cut solar heat energy and UV and not visibility. The sides are just slightly lighter than 08inBama's, but just slightly. (lookin' good by the way, I like that color with tint!)
If I did it again I'd get 5% on the back (because I like the look of completely blacked out rear glass) but keep the 30% on the sides. It looks perfect (to me), just light enough so you can make out a silhouette of a person inside, but can't see any distinguishing features of the occupants. I have zero issues seeing out of it at night.
I had 20% on the sides and 5% on the rear of my supercharged Regal and it looked MUCH darker than 20%. I had it that way for about 2 years before I got stopped for it. It is impossible to see out the back window when it's dark outside but it looks really sweet.
Whatever you do, get darker on the back window. It will make the sides look darker, the car look better, reject more solar heat, and not have a big effect on the legality of your tint. It also depends on what color your car is, tint looks darker on lighter cars.

I had 20% on my LT all the way around for 60,000 mi and 15% for another 10,000 mi before I traded her in after 3 years. Not a single tint pull over or ticket.
Have had 15% on my SS since 400 mi, am at 18k mi now 8 months later, only been pulled over once for it and got a ticket. I call it my service fee
Wouldnt have gotten pulled over if I didnt have blue tape at the top of my windshield reading <----MOVE

I live in FL I have 20% and the limit is 25% noone has said ****. The other day I went to Georgia, and I got pulled over...I was only there for one day. Appharently their limit is 32% + or - 3% is what the cop told me. Mine showed up on his thing as 18%...I got effed lol. He wrote me a ticket, I guess I'll be cruising windows down my next trip through GA.

35% is legal in MD went with 20% on sides and rear. None on the windshield (that's illegal too - unless it's above the AS1 line)
Haven't been busted yet. Have had it over a year.
I like my 20% it's not too dark where I can't see out, but it's dark enough where it looks GOOD and people have a hard time looking in.
