why are you so hung up on it?
my base model 06 LS when i had it incurred 8k worth of damage and the insurance company still fixed it, and that was the second accident it was in... no salvage title... the only reason the insurance company didnt total it was because of the airbags.
this car is most likely fucked and it would be playing russian roulette if you bought it and it not being majorly fucked.
if you need it asap look on craigslist and look for cars and set the price range to under 6k and you will find plenty of decent mileage cars with NO semi truck damage to the rear 1/4 panel

i only have 4k andcant find another cobalt in that price range and i cant make any money right now cause im out of a job till i get a new car but i really dont want to settle for my to be second ugly ass junker

side note, some of the best deals on cars are the 1000 dollar beaters...
i have a 91 buick lesabre with 150k on the odometer i bought for $1K and i spent 500 dollars and she runs like a champ. id look for a 3k car and use the last 1k for just in case money after you bought it
