Monte Carlo SS or Cobalt SS/SC
Hey guys, Ok i own a 97 chevy blazer and well its at 160,000 miles so I figure its about time to look for a new car. I really really want a new toy. I love the look of the montes though I know alot dont. At the same time I've always loved the cobalt. I know the cobalt is cheaper and gets better gas mileage but the monte has a v-8, and how can anyone complain about that. I know this is a cobalt site but please try to stay open minded and not too biased. What do you guys think would be better?

well you can either have the ugliest car in the world or a cobalt...not a tough choice haha. fwd on a v8 is such a waste, but it seems like this will be your full time car so RWD might not be an option for you since you might not wanna have to get a winter car. if you want a V8 why not a mustang, or wait for the nwe camaro....lots of options but dont get a Monte.

Get the Cobalt... get one while you can... there will be none for 2008.
Or you could get the 2008 HHR SS... 2.0L Turbo... 4 doors and more room... same amount of power.

Isn't the 5.3 in the Monte Carlo a Vortec motor? Then it has aftermarket, if it is the SAME vortec motor in my dads Sierra just mounted to the east west, then it has at least a supercharger for it...
Anyways, GET THE MONTE! Much better handling car, smoothest ride I've felt yet, MORE ROOM for people and luggage, all it needs is a set of eyelids to make it look good. Get the Black or Dark Blue and it looks stellar all shined up.
I would have gotten one of the basers if I could have afforded it, but unfortunately that will have to wait till I get a new job that pays a bit more.

it sucks though, and i wouldnt want to risk sliding into a curb and wrecking a rim and axle just cause i got zero weight on my rear wheels. i know it is possible to drive RWD in the winter but its definatly no really worth it.

Monte = Nice ride, probably a little nicer interior but pointlessly slow and gas hog.
Cobalt = Nice for the cash, great gas mileage, super quick (ss supercharged), could have a nicer interior.
If you are going to by an SS and like good gas mileage go Cobalt, if you like a little bit cushier car and aren't looking to show anyone up then Monte.

the monte SSs are nice and it does not use a vortex, its the LS4 and sence GM has announced the 5.3 ls4 will be the z28 motor in the camaro you can expect an ass load off aftermarket parts in the near future
for the money the cobalt is he better deal, but i would take the monte if i had the funds

the same reason that the 82 to 92 camaros with 350s only got autos, too much power in a sub-frame car could cause the body to turn into a twissler if you dump it, and thats not a risk gm is willing to make and the camaros were only 200hp 235tq
