If your going to use it for a "fun" daily driver (which is what i would buy it for... dont go to track), i guess the LSD dosen't make much difference right? because if lsd is in a package with the recaro seats i much rather have the stadard ones... call me ricer, but i like those color inserts , correct me if im wrong about the lsd plz.

Well I like LSD even as a daily driver, it does help with traction on bad weather conditions sometimes, but I suppose if your saving money then there is no need. LSD or not the car rocks, just add it on if u want

The limited slip helps cornering by not spinning one wheel through the turn, increases cornering speed and control. It also helps maintain control in slippery conditions and since you live in T.O, you may want to consider that.

Does anyone know how much additional the performance package is going to be? I tried looking but I couldn't find anything.

No one knows since there is no official word.

A WRX will never trap at 98 mph bone stock. Traps around 92-93 bone stock.

Anyone catch the quote about how the gearbox doesn't beat out the RSX's? 6Spd All the way

exactly; what AWD giveth, AWD taketh away - it really drains power on top end, and the car's trap speed suffers.

and yeah, I caught the bit about the rsx..... they're not talking about the 6th gear, they mearly mention the rsx's shifter is much smoother, which pretty much everyone expected.

Although, after reading the article..they speculated that it would cost around 24k with the performance package. How accurate that is, who knows. But I'd rather keep the stock seats..and just have the LSD. I hope that's an option. =/

nice, i'm sure it can pull lil bit better 98 mph trap is good for a few tenths faster. wonder what there 60 ' times were. like the almost .90 skid pad, thats awsome. and if you guys remember along time ago chevy did say that the cobalt was supposed to be lighter than the ion redline. so i'm sure 2800 is realistic. damn nice review. want to see more. awsome. sweet i'm happy makes me want one even more. but the 24000 price tag hurts, if it was a little lower it would have been nicer. 24000 is wrx price tag and almost enough for an evo mr edition i think.

rsx type s runs around low 15s and high 14s stock. not to sure of its 60' time though.

the mitsu rs is around $27k and mr edition is around $34k.
and i do agree with them about the rsx's shifter even though i havent driven a cobalt yet. having driven a crap load of rsx's when i was service advisor at the dealership in wilmington i have to say that they are some of the smoothest shifting cars you will drive for that kind of money. hard to beat. but ill take a lil rough shifter in exchange for more horses and better overall performance anyday...

my bad ... should be 14.20 @ 94.43.... http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...er/index1.html

boost guage standard?must be the ion redline that doesn't come with one.
Damn i'm 0 for 2.

yeah...i have seen a redline with one...and i think they are offering it with the performance package when it comes out for that vehicle...

that awd launch is one of the main reasons that 1/4 mile time is so low...as im sure you already knew...but i like the fact that our trap is higher...

but the 0-60 time they made must be pretty close because in a advertisment for the SS in the same issue, chevy says 6.1 0-60 time...

This is actually a positive review, of a chevy??? i'm beside myself. this never happens.

I'm impressed at the numbers too, show potential.

2800lbs, something fishy about that number though, the ion redline comes in at 2930lbs

I agree with you, but it out running the z51??(your right, cause it def. doesnt) Someones on crack ...the Z is over 25 grand more, and does a 12.7 for the price ...its basically saying 14.5 (and thats with a really good/prof. driver, a typical driver will do apx. a 14.8 like it says) is faster than 12.7 ...The coba's still does its thing though dont get me wrong , but you cant expect to compare the two anyway.

Actually, it's not talking about a 1/4 mile time. As the article states:

"How good is it? In testing, the Cobalt SS the fastest regular-production front-drive car through the slalom we've tested in three years, rocking through the cones even faster than the new Corvette Z51.

So, despite the 25k+ price tag of the Z51, our car "rocks through the cones faster."

Why cant it come standard? It makes more sense, and the Nissan Sentra SE-R comes with it standard...

The weight of the car is correct since the SS uses alot of aluminumn suspension parts vs. even the base model...such as the LCA's up front...

many many many ways to remove weight from a car........I see nothing wrong with the SS being lighter. In fact, I'm willing to bet that engine is lighter, even with the blower, than the 2.2, due to it's shorter stroke.
