Plus they never even mentioned that GMPP has parts and accessories to improve the car at the dealership, like the ground effects kit, chrome door handles, and a few wheel options.

yeah. it is. i have an 07 redline. and its the rare lsj. my car is one of 17. so im told. and its under rated. my car's sticker say's 205 bhp. the 07 cobalt ss sc g85 (same motor and trans) rated at 245 bhp. bone stock. ive taken every cobalt thats tested the rare lsj. thats becuase the redline weighs alittle more than 300 pounds less.my clutch isnt harsh or clunky, niether is the steering. razor sharp for steering and a very light clutch. i havent driven a ss sc. so i cant say anything bout it. but it dosent suprise me that the lsj powered cars are underrated. and 18's dont help steering or braking.

Has anybody noticed that ANY of these reviews they put the cobalt usually last or second last for 2 reasons
a.) "THE WING!!!"
or
b.) "cheap" interior (imo i found the civic interior far less quality and just plain ugly, i wish the new civic had a the rsx-s interior)
I think whats hilarious about them saying "Car least capable platform in the group" i just chuckle.
Our car isnt by definition a cobalt. similar external styling while almost everything is different when you compare it to the base models.

people complain about the lack of a nice interior, to which i totally disagree, for a sub 30k car, the interior isnt that bad. On top of that, had GM beefed up the interior, odds are that the car would cost even more, making it less of a "good bang for buck" car than it is now. as of this moment, its pretty much the best bang for your buck car in this category, especially when it comes to performace - and lets face it, performance is the most important aspect of sport compacts, not interior.

its sad how they contradict themselves all over these reviews. their objective is to compare and contrast cars that fall under the category of "sport compact performance" where the cobalt excels over pretty much any car in that comparison except for the mazda3 and maybe the wrx; however they rank the car 6th based on its interior.....which has nothing to do with the performance aspect. car should have gotten 3rd or maybe 2nd. I dont think any of us expect this car to rank #1 because we know the limits of its performance, but to rank it 6th because it has a weaker interior in the "sport compact PERFROMACE" market is extremely ignorant on their part.

Spot on!! totally agree with you. They keep nagging about the interior and how the WRX and MS3 have 4 doors, MS3 has a hatch to bring groceries? I mean sure you are correct, but this test was about PERFORMANCE SPORT compacts. They should rate the performance aspect, and not what one can get 5 ppl to the groceries the easiest!

The 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are a bit slow for the cobalt.
The worse part of the WRX was the laggy 2.0 but they fixed that with the 2.5 so it climbs back up to the top of the pack.
Oh well, I am still happy with my rattly cobalt. It's chevy build quality for sure but it's a rocket ship race car.

So there is the breakdown of stats. Looks kinda lop-sided to me. I know you can get the 06' SS w/stage 2 off the lot (seen one at the dealer, window sticker said 245hp, looked closer and stage 2 was listed as an option.) It costs $23,499msrp. So why didn't they use that I wonder? Anyway, just some stupid, biased opinions in that article.

I know you Cobalt guys might not get this, but not having to look through the steering wheel to see your gauges really was a good idea. I can't stand having to angle my head funny just to see how fast I'm actually going on my other cars (Speaking about the Ion's cluster).
