New Member looking for an SS

Hey guys, I figure I better introduce myself before asking a few questions.. I had a 2004 black Cavalier 2.2 M5 that I used as a daily driver up untill this point. It was rear ended by a women driver (no surprise) and was totaled out by insurance about a week ago. Sooo, I'm now on the hunt for a stock LSJ.

No plans for it other than possibly a cold air intake. I'd just like something that gets good gas mileage and that is fun to drive, and I think a Cobalt fits that description pretty well. I've already got a toy; 1998 LS1 Trans Am.

A couple questions.. How reliable are these cars with high mileage? Is there anything in particular to look for when buying one? I'm considering looking at this one if he is willing to come down on price. 2006 COBALT SS SUPERCHARGED Thanks.

The LSJ is a tank at high milage. 154k and still runs strong, other than the minor problems it came out with from the factory. (timing chain tensioner is old)
Look for the intercooler pump working specifically, but it's not a big deal if it isn't.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I've been checking the classifieds on here.. What exactly is the problem with the timing chain tensioner in the early years?

bbs_cav,

If you do find a Cobalt (or other GM vehicle) and end up purchasing it, I'm happy to check into the vehicle's information and let you know about any open recalls and get you warranty parameters (exact date and mileage of expiration for any remaining warranties).

Good luck in your search!
