Noob Questions
So I just purchased an 06 Cobalt SS/SC with 70k on it and the only aftermarket part is a Spectre Intake. Now I have to admit I really dont know very much about the car. One of the first things I noticed was the idle rpm seems a little high, like 950. I was wondering what they usually are. I also recently got a check engine light the code was P0172 bank 1 system too rich. Im guessing thats from the intake but donno how to fix it.

That code basically means that your fuel trims are below -20% (engine is cutting over 20% fuel). This I can almost guarantee you is due to your intake. The fact that your idle is so high leads me to believe 1 or more of a couple things, 1: the car is tuned but it's a god awfull tune, 2: you aren't tuned and the ecm is compensating for something, 3: you may have a boost/vacuum leak somewhere which could be what the ecm is compensating for at idle, and this can also cause wacky trims due to unmetered air entering the engine.
Either way, something isn't right with the car so it needs to be addressed. I see you're pretty local to me, where did you get the car from if you don't mind me asking?

MattCT,
It looks like you're going to be taking advantage of that extra warranty and have your dealership look into this; if I can be of any assistance, I'm happy to help in any way that I can!
Best,

lol.. I don't know what to tell you man. I don't make the rules. I'm just telling you what I see when I open the stock tune files for lsj's in hpt. I attached a screen shot of both an 06 and 07 lsj idle speeds based on engine temps. At normal operating temps the target idle speed for the ecm is 750rpm..

I think you may have the same thing happen to you that happened to me.
Check your fuel injectors. See if they have green parts on them.
If they do not, then your fuel injectors have been upgraded and its likly that your PCM was programed by the dealership backto the Factory settings. You'll need to get a tuen to get that corrected.
