overall opinions on the 06 2.4 ss coupe
whats up fellas...im the newb in town Anyway, I currently drive a 02 blazer xtreme but have been looking to pick up a new ride. Ive been looking at the new 06 cobalt ss 2.4 coupes. I was actually impressed with how the car performed. And even though I can drive a stick im looking towards an automatic for the amount of driving I do for work and whatnot. And since gas prices have been climbing lately..im looking for something that gets better than the 18 mpg my blazer gets. I was looking at getting a black one with xm/sunroof/heated leathers...etc. What are your overall opinions on these cars and how do you like them so far?

long island...and ya it definatley had pep for an auto none the less. Made the base rsx i drove seem slow and it seemed about equal to a gti 1.8t (stick). Maybe it was in my head...lol.

They have some giddy up, even for an automatic. the one i ordered is auto. the only complaints i have heard are that the leather seats stretch and age very quickly, so i went with the cloth. i like cloth anyway unless its a luxury car or something. um, i think i heard about a rattle in some sunroofs... just minor warranty covered things. every ride and performance comment i have heard has been exceptional. mine is supposed to be here this week so as soon as i get pics i'll post them and try to get a vid too, write a detailed testimony on how it drives to let everyone know. info is just getting out on them.

thanx for the input..i just read the same thing about the leather. Might take one with cloth if I end up getting one and i can swap seats down the road. I can never leave anything stock..so im sure ill have more than enough projects to come up with

ive driven the 2.4 ss and i was very happy with the over all package , i actually though the leather seats are a little more comfy that the cloth seats
ive only driven the 5spd
and dont listen to th guy with the comments about it being a fake ss , or you should dish up the cash for the ss/sc
cause for the price of the ss/sc , a couple thousand more , you can find another car that is better than the ss/sc

I'm still intending to take one for a test drive so I can't speak from experience but I've heard nothing but good from those who have actually driven one .

In canada it is
LS = 19000
SS = 23000
SS S/C = 27000
So i don't really think they are that overpriced.
I am happy with mine, wouldn't mind the handling of the ss s/c, but it is worth the trade off of not having those rims/spoiler/body kit/ etc.

I love mine. It rides good...its got some pep and it still gets 28-30 mpg. I cant complain at all. Mine has the sunroof, xm, and pioneer sound. I got cloth seats cause im just not a big leather person but if the car would have had them, i prob would have taken it. Def a good car.

I'm one of the first on this site to get the 2.4 and the car just keeps getting better and better. As you put on more mileage the sucker will get even more pep (I've noticed such a different in performance since I first got it), expecially with 91 in the tank.
It's a great car and a worthwhile purchase.

call me crazy, But I think it woulda been cool if GM instead had a coupe AND sedan 2.0L. I think a sedan 2.0L w/a relatively conservative body kit woulda been cool. I probably woulda bought that instead of a 2.0L coupe (I have kids).

There's a yellow 2.4 SS at the dealer across from my work. I haven't driven it but I think it's a sharp-looking car. I've been tossing around the thought of putting the body kit on my LT...

i saw pics of a dsign for a 2.o s/c sedan... nothing i think they are considering, just some photoshop thing and it didn't look bad... something for a family like you said. if you're a sporty family

money aint the issue....im just not that impressed with the hp #'s that you get out of the 2.0 already being sc'd. Im willing to bet that these 2.4's will push out some nice #'s with some extra money in them once more parts are available. Anything can be fast...just depends on how much $$$ you are willing to spend.
#25
thats true and you are starting with 171hp... but it would require some engine mods to get the thing to take some serious boost... forged internals and such... but like you said, $$$ will do it
