People who know nothing about cars

^ One reason why I learn things. I got rocked $450 the last time ever for an inspection and front brake job. 3.5 hours labor for the job alone. I can have the stupid thing done in less than half the time nowadays. I don't have money sitting around just to throw at things because I don't wish to understand stuff.

It should be similar to a CDL test, people should have to do a walk around on their car and know what fluids are what and to know how to check them as well as maintain their car. Sometimes I feel more comfortable driving around a larger truck because I know that they know what they're doing (not always but more so than not).

People just gas their car and go and some can't even do that right... My sisters friend somehow put diesel in her car when the pumps are clearly marked.... Speaking of my sister I told her for a straight month do not drive on a spare and what does she do? I get a call at 10:30 from her and my mom asking me to come help her out lol....

100% agree with you. And a nothing thing is I feel like people feel too safe In a car. they don't realize it's a ton of death machine if you don't respect roads/weather conditions or even safe following distance

True that. It's funny how auto places advertise a free battery check and tire rotation and ppl find that as a deal lmao but it's so damn easy to do. Just out of curiosity how often do you lifted your hood and check your oil? This question is for everyone

My buddy has a Yaris and is pretty sure its an amazing car. He put fancy new hubcaps on it and had me install led footwell lighting which I have a feeling he thinks adds about 25-30 hp. But anyways I had his hood open and he points to the washer fluid reservoir and says "Is this where the oil goes?" I seriously almost died laughing

Just yesterday my co worker asked when to get an oil change. He had put over 20k miles on his old galant since the last oil change. So I said it needs it now. He responds with "can I use Canola?" I literally almost passed out from laughing so hard.

tire change, replace a fuse, check tire pressure, check fluid levels, should all be on a driving test. You don't really need to learn how to change your oil cause that isn't something that will be fixed on the side of the road.

20k? that's insane. i know nowadays there's 10k oils and that, but i don't feel to thrilled about waiting long intervals.

It's only getting worse with new cars coming out. It's not that hard to walk around your car before you get in and see if a tire is low but what do they come out with? Tire pressure sensors. Then parallel assist parking, blind spot warning, ect you get it. People are becoming more lazy and careless drivers. I understand to try and make things more convenient but I think it's for a better cause

its pretty crazy how little people know about cars. I co-oped at lexus and half the customers that came in complained about the most basic things and im just looking at it like "how do you not know what's wrong..." and im 17. I know the most about cars out of any of my friends, even the car guys... Everything seems really simple to me and it boggles my mind how people don't know how to do the most simple things like changing oil, then they go to their dealers and pay out the ass for something that doesn't take longer than 20 min... Then again, i've been around that kinda stuff my whole life, others havent.
