To the OP, if you believe the officer is following to closely find the nearest safe place to pull over/off the road. Let him pass and continue your drive home. Or as others stated chill in your car for 5-10mins after work, could be catching an officer on shift change.

Well, 1 time I got pulled over. I told him that I am Deaf and I was signing ASL to him. I asked him that if He has a paper and a pen. For 5 mins he kept refusing or communicate with me, then finally he gave up and gave me pen and paper. I told him that I am Deaf, then You wanna know what he said to me ? He said "Why Your License did not say that you are Deaf ? You better not be lying to me, I guess I will have to suspended your license! Why are you out here this late at night?" I was like WTF!? Then more Polices came and 1 of those police officer started yelling at me at my ear. I can't hear him then I saw police officer looking to another police officer and I looked. Police Officer were too ******* close to my ear! I got really upset and saying to myself that is scary and I don't feel like they are treating me like a human being just like everybody else. I thought this is a free country and I can go out late at night whatever I want to. I just feel that they are treating me like a laboratory that I am not a human being.

This reminds me of the video of the cops beating and tasing a disabled man in a wheelchair that happened just last week. They really don't treat people like humans. They couldn't care less if you have a disability. For some reason people having disabilities seems to promote anger in cops.

It's too bad you have to put up with such ignorant people, on here and those cops.
You don't sound too bothered so that's great. I can't believe how I would deal with that. Good for you.

im gonna be honest here people of authority make mistakes all the time, i just feel sometimes they have a closed mind..... my cousins friends had to call the ambulence one time for my cousin.... he collapsed and was very much in distress..... the ambulence workers and police officers assumed and proceeded to treat him like he was under the influnce of some heavy drugs....... they ended up making him walk out to the ambulence down 5 flights of stairs..... at one point in time they pretty much kicked him down the stairs..... they took their sweet time going to the hosp..... turns out he was having a massive brain aneurysm......... and now he is damaged for life....... dont mind me if i dont respect people of authority.....

I know, I was just trying to be normal as everybody can be. I just don't get it that they have to be on My ASS Everyday. I already called Police Department, I told them that I am feeling that I am being Harass by those 5-0. They told me that They will take care of it. Hopefully, for now on They leave me alone.
...Then I read this and was like WTF?!? That ain't right...

I still don't quite feel like an *******. Both of my parents happen to be deaf, so I was raised around ASL my whole life. It is true that I have experienced more than enough times where the ignorance of others made it hard on them to function normally, but at 33 you either are going to be bitter about it or shrug it off as ignorant people being ignorant. It sucks that an officer would yell at you because you are deaf, but I don't think being deaf is something you actually HAVE to claim on your license. They still should be able to accommodate you reasonably without being a dick. Like others have said, as long as you aren't being pulled over for no reason all the time, just don't worry about it. Clearly you aren't doing anything illegal, they just are choosing to select you based on your car. Either it gets worse or they realize they are wasting their time. Pretty thankful I live in a big city where they have better things to do. Good luck OP.

I did went to DMV and asked them if they can put Deaf ? They said the only way to put on is Handicap. I told them no, Deaf is NOT Handicap! Deaf peoples are like everybody else and they can do just about anything like hearing people do. Deaf are just lack of 1 thing, can't hear that's all. That's why Deaf People needs support from all of us that treat all of us fair as a human beings and that includes Handicap people too.

Didn't say you can't run a marathon, but you can't hear and that's a handicap.

Thanks but that's not what this idiot was refering to. My mother is deaf, it's no big thing, doesn't stop her from doing anything... well... except hearing!!!
I was refering to the fact that calling the cops and complaining about being harassed by them following you everywhere is only going to paint a bigger target on you to be under more scrutiny.
That's what made me laugh.
Then I read about how he was being treated by those officers and if it's not exagerrated then it's 100% not right. Thery are treating him as sub-human because he is deaf...
But thanks for the assumptions!

It seems to be true. I had a mostly deaf friend once who had a few totally deaf friends. While communication was ofcourse hard, we all had a good time here and there at bonfires and stuff. Totally regular people just working around the obvious. Super nice people too, i must add!
However being that they communicate alot with other simply via texting, they all had really good grammar skills. Anyway texting is really a gift to them because it allows them to communicate with the non deaf so much easier without sign.
