Problems with the Cobalt?
I was just wondering out of all you cobalt owners how many of you have had problems so far? So far all I have seen is two threads about problems. I guess most people are having luck? If your car did have problems what problems did it have?

The only thing that I do not like so far is gas mileage. The info center says that I am only getting about 18mpg (mostly city driving). That is far less than the estimate by Chevy. I'm hoping that after wearing in the engine some more will help that out (I have a little over 1000mi on it so far). The only other small thing is that the windshield fluid lines freeze up as soon as it hits 32F (sucked during the last big snowstorm with road salt caking up the windshield). I guess once I get the ice melting fluid, I wont have the same problem.

Gas mileage will fluctuate as the car increases the number of miles on the new engine. Also, lay off the gas pedal dude. 4 cyl. doesnt mean a jet plane lol j/k keep on driving that beautiful Chevy Cobalt.

Problems and Mileage
My first problem was after I picked up the car and the next day I went out.
During the day mind you.... The Drivers side Visor is not mounted correctly
so it will not pull to the side. My Cavy had the same issue 8 years ago when I bought. Took three years and 3 different dealers until one of them got it right.
Then I got Low Fuel light in info panel from the dealers fill up.
Put a little over 3/4 of a tank of 93 octane in the car. 20 miles later
the Check light came on.
Now from having the Cavy doing this after 200K miles. It was the
gas cap. Replaced it and that worked for like a week on and off
then the dealer said when you turn the cap, make sure it clicks 4 times.
Well I did that on the cap gas on the colbalt. And this is what I get.
I've named the car, "Christine" because as soon as I pulled up to
the dealer the light went off. Drove back to work and the fricking
light came back on. Now it's off again. I just filled it up again last night.
I did notice some crappy mileage after the first tank seemed to last forever.
I have about 799 miles on the car right now. Went 38 mileages and
it's eaten a 1/4 of a tank already. That sucks. It better get better or I'll
be buying a Magum if I want a gas hog car.
Peaceout,
Dom

first thing, don't put premium in this car, it is completely tuned for 87 octane.
2. sounds more like a problem with your copmuter see my post about waiting, maybe there is a bad ground or computer problem, or maybe a bad conection on your gas pickup.
take it in even is the light is off, that is why we have warrenties. Just tell them what it is doing.

I've put about 600 miles on my Cobalt and display says I'm getting 27.5 mpg. Haven't had any problems at all (knock on wood). Even drives good in the snow. Will be posting pics tomorrow.

Double check your mileage with your "trip-o-meter" by doing the following.
1. Fill up your gas tank with normals 87 grade, the car doesn't peform any better or last any longer on anything else. Reset the trip to '0'.
2. Drive like you normally drive, and keep in mind, the farther you push down on the pedal, the deeper in the pocket it's gonna hit you.
3. Fill up again and use the exact number of miles divided by the exact number of gallons and you can get your exact mpg.
It sounds like the computer also doesn't have the right tire size input into it, have them double check that. That affects everything from your mpg to your braking, so it needs to be re-calibrated.
Hope this helps

Thanks
I'm taking it back on Tuesday, that's when my appointment is.
I'll keep all in the loop.
Anybody shown seat wear on the drivers side lip to the right.
I'll put pics up soon.
The dealer said they would replace the cover. So that's a good thing.
2 mouths old, that bothers me a little. I hope it doesn't continue.

Ive only had problems with the air conditioner pressure sensor,,, first the air quit working and they said some pressure sensor was reading wrong.. so they replaced it then about 300 miles later the ce light came on and Gave me the message "Engine power reduced" Well they replaced that same sensor again. I have the part number and its the same on both sheets so hopefully it was just 2 bad sensors and not something else causing it
