Proud of myself.

Just wanted to say, I'm not really a car guy at all, or like a mechanic or anything. But I replaced my o2 sensors, and my throttle body successfully all by myself! Feels good to fix car problems on your own, especially for about 75% off of the price a shop would have charged!

My o2 sensor was supposedly bad (downstream). I had heard some rattling but thought it could be something else. It was just loose. But I didnt put that together until after I hit it with a hammer.

Yes, I hit it with a hammer. LOL.

Upstream was replaced just because. And I replaced my throttle body because, well, if you've read around its a serious jackass of a part. Tons of cobalts affected by the issues it could possibly have.

quick question for those of you who feel like responding nicely - i have a 2.2 and have seen on these forums instead of the big plastic semi-rectangular air thingy that comes off the throttle and goes into the air filter, some people just have a tube that does that. is there a reason, and is it a good thing to want?

Are you referring to the Air Intake?

yes, i cant find the exact name because everyone refers to it differently or labels things wrong - some say air intake manifold.

The air intake manifold is a different thing.

The air intake manifold comes after the air filter (you need to have clean air coming into the manifold.

If you find an article about 4 stroke engine operation (like a single cylinder lawnmower engine) you will get a beter idea of the main componenets of an engine.

Each engine design has its onwn look to various parts and are engineered differently.

The ideo of the internal Combustion Engine is quite simple and once you understand the basics you will be able to identify al the bits.

People on this forum who have built or rebuilt engines understand more technical details which you may not need.
