Yea but they dont think of it as a quick or in some peoples cases a fast car. People gets boners when you tell them you drive a mustang or camaro...you say you drive a cobalt there like oh. Remember Im talking about the average person not a car person.

Atleast half the people i tell that i drive a cobalt ss say damn thats a cool car or when they see it are actually impressed. Its a rare car camaros and mustangs are a dime a dozen

Its all about the hood scoop, faux or not! I was going to joke a little but, think about it -seriously - you look at a Subi - all curves and all - total chick car, until you see that dumb hood scoop, and the ricerboy rear wing, and it turns back into a guy car!

Small car generally equals chick car. Small car with slightly curvy lines equals girl car. When most dudes have been going truck or full on sports car for the past decade, you can't blame the uneducated for thinking that the smaller varieties of cars are girly.

the Cobalt was a compact economy car so it cannot be designed to look as aggressive as muscle cars or sports cars in general. they have to appeal to a much wider market so they cannot look aggressive. IMO, Cobalts definitely don't look like chick cars though, they're just not meant to stand out as much so no bold lines. base models are on the bland side but SS's look sharp.

Well here where I am hardly anyone has a ss, I've only seen 2, a red sedan and a silver one. But of course there are a ton more stangs on the road. I can get a rock, do a 360 blind folded, throw the rock and most likely hit a mustang. Yes I see girls driving the v6 but have not seen one lady in a 5.0 or a camaro, I've seen one lady in a DB9 but thats a whole different thing. Point is, if they had changed the body style to look more aggressive like an evo x front, then I would like the look more. And like I said, I know the performance in these cars, all im saying is they seem girly.

In all seriousness, i think the Cobalt's styling fits what is is very well.

We've all seen the Corvette/Cobalt commercial... It portrays the Cobalt as playful & young.

The Cobalt is a sporty little car. It's not a big bad muscle car. It retains a hint of aggressiveness but in a way that compliments it's "playful nature".

IMHO at least...

I think you are throwing around the term girly because the car doesn't look like its going to suck you in through a large gaping grill.

The Evo has a different attitude than a Cobalt. A more aggressive look fits it.

a lot of girls drive cobalts, but I dont see many SS cobalts driven by girls, frankly I see far more Celica's, civics, mustangs and camaro's driven by women than SS cobalts

EXACTLY! now I'm not talking about the nice ones (5.0's or cobra's or that) but 90% of the mustangs around here are trashy late 90's early 00's that are ugly colours and v6's (some GT's) and 80% of the people driving them are trashy looking women, its mind blowing

and yeah I made those stats up but you get my point

same with the new Camaro, theres so many V6's and V8's (no ZL'1) with Women Driving them, I just dont get it

none of my friends hate my cobalt though... they love it

In my experience people only notice my car is an SS unless I point it out, otherwise it's just a cobalt.

tomato, tomato (yes, pronounced differently.) yes, sometimes cars are made to appeal to a certain gender a little more than the other, but i wouldnt say theres any girl/guy cars cuz i've seen a broad variety of people drive an even broader variety of cars. depends on what the person likes. hell, in high school, there was one guy who actually traded the '05 corvette his parents got him for a minivan (and sadly, no, i'm NOT joking) but to each their own i guess
