quick question regarding keys

Just purchased a 06 SS 2.4 auto, only came with one key, the key has a + sign on it which im assuming indicates its passkey coded, does this mean im stuck going to the dealer for a key?

I'm thinking yes as the keys have a chip in them to communicate with the car in order to start it.

Possibly, your best bet would be to go to your local hardware that makes keys and ask them to look your car up in the book to see if the key has a transponder in it, that's what we do at my family's store haha. If it does have a chip, there are places besides the dealer you can get it done, we do it but we're in MI, but you should find a place in NJ.

An actual locksmith has those keys you can program your self. Insert new key turn to accessory and security light should be on let sit for ten min or when light shuts off and repeat two more times by shutting off and immediately turning back to accesory.pm if need help with it.

I have instructions on my computer on how to do this. I'll post it when I get home. I bought 3 keys and had them cut and I programmed them, in the end it cost $45.

^Def waiting for this. My car only came with one key and I've been putting off getting a second because I don't want to get bent over by the dealer.

Real easy.

Buy uncut transponder key for like $15, get cut, and program with existing key.
