So I have a 2.2 that used to sound great, factory manifold and downpipe, and a custom 2.5" catback with a glasspack muffler. It did sound awesome, nice low tone, but now not so much
I just installed a Badmab shorty header and ZZP 2.5" catted downpipe, now when I get above 3000 rpms I get crazy rasp that sounds terrible. Sounds like a honda with a fart can.
Now is this the muffler causing that noise or would it be the resonator rattling around? I have no idea, but I know it has to get fixed asap, please help me out

i had this problem. i installed a catted zzp dp and hated and i just removed it. I was running a lsj dp and it sounded good with my magnaflow catback.

really well that kinda sucks. anyone else have this problem?
im going to swap the muffler out for a nice magnaflow, see if that does anything. hopefully its just the cheap glasspack wearing out

i had that problem on my old LS. i drove it that way for like a year 1/2. finally kept getting crazy looks by the cops so i went and put a resonator in. after i put the resonator in,it had a nice low tone but when you romped on it,it didnt sound all ricer-ish. i loved the way my LS sounded


OP if you have a glass pack i think after a while they give out and get louder. so definatly get rid of that thing and get a muffler and if thats still to raspy throw a smaller resonator in it.

^sounds good. I know the glasspack is **** lol but it was fun for a while.
smaller resonator or a bigger one? the one there now is only maybe 8 inches long

the resonator i put on my LS was maybeee idk 15-18 inches long i think,i cant remember lol

I have a zzp shorty with a cti catted 3" to 2.5" downpipe with an slp catback.
Its raspy and loud as hell!!!

However with the factory dual cat downpipe on it the car sounded great and got a good amount of compliments.
