Rear Deck Mod
As some as you may know, I have Four Twelves in my trunk. And I'm sick of leaving my seat folded down to let the bass vent into the cabin. If i leave the seats up the trunk takes all the pressure from the subs, and I feel it may eventually ruin the locking mechanism (actually I'm quite certain. When the seats are folded up, the trunk lid moves up and down almost a full inch.)
Do you guys think I could get away with cutting a large square underneath the rear deck, in the sheet metal between the two speakers to act as a vent?
There looks like there is some prime real estate between the two speakers there.

You'd be fine, although the liner that goes over the rear deck has soem kindof fiber board allong all of it but over the speaker openings...If I was you I would consider changing the 6x9's in the rear deck into 6.5's and leaving the extra edge (around the 6x9 opening) open to vent....(if you even have rear speakers.)
If you have XM the unit for it is in the middle of that area between the speakers though.

I hate having to vent the trunk thru the seat though, damn it.

How to:
- remove subwoofers from trunk.
- Load double barrel shot gun
- retract front seats
- fire double barrel shot gun into back seat
OR! heres an idea
Take you parcel shelf cover off and instead of cutting a big ass square hole you could drill several 1/4 or maybe smaller holes in the parcel shelf in some kind of patern to make it look stock still. I have heard though that apparently it rattles like crazy with subs so it may rattle worse. But its an idea. You could always do the same thing that guy did in his how to about revamping the parcel shelf to make it stop rattling. The same one you got the pic from.
You'll need an air powered drill to make the holes and some high speed drill bits. An electirc drill probably wouldnt quite cut the cheese. Well it would take longer anyways.

I dont have a problem with my rear deck really. I just wanna get some ari flowing thru it, if the deck wasnt backed with fibreboard, i'd just bust out my welder, crank the power all the way up, and use it as a sheet metal cutting tool, but that damn deck will still block any air. And I dont want to have a different colored deck either

you could also plaster the inside of your trunk and quarter panels plus your floor with dynomat.
Im supprized your trunk vibrates that much considering theres a big vent in the quarter panel hidden beneath the bumper cover. Its about 6" by 4".
I'm starting to think that no matter what you do your trunk will still vibrate like crazy unless you pull 2 of those subs out.
