Recall - 2006 Cobalt - Daytime Running Lamps Inop

some of you may be getting a letter in the mail in the next week or so that will look like this:

September 2005
Dear General Motors Customer:

This notice is sent to inform you that Chevrolet is conducting a customer satisfaction program that affects certain 2006 model year vehicles.

We have learned that the daytime running lamps (DRL) in your vehicle may be inoperative. DRL can make it easier for others to see the front of the vehicle during the day. DRL can be helpful in many different driving conditions, but they can be especially helpful in the short periods after dawn and before sunset.

What We Will Do
To correct this condition, your Chevrolet dealer will reconfigure the body control module to activate the DRL when the vehicle is being driven. This service will be performed for you at no charge until September 30, 2006.

What You Should Do
To limit any possible inconvenience, we recommend that you contact your dealer as soon as possible to schedule and appointment for this repair. Presenting the enclosed customer reply form to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction in the shortest possible time. If you no longer own this vehicle, please check the appropriate box and provide the new owner information, if available.

Customer Reply Form
The enclosed customer reply form identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this form to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction in the shortest possible time. If you no longer own this vehicle, please let us know by completing the form and mailing it back to us.

If you have any questions or need any assistance, just contact your dealer or the appropriate Customer Assistance Center at the number listed below. The Customer Assistance Center’s hours of operation are from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM, EST, Monday through Friday.
