so today I finally got a loaner. It takes this actually happening to get anywhere with this. And I tell you it's scary as ****! You can't steer, breaks don't work worth ****! They told me it could be months to get it fixed so till then I join the 2010 impala network......lol
i've driven many cars back in the day without power steering and while the car is in motion the wheels is still easy to turn..
as for brakes.. ya i can see that being surprising. gotta stand on them! haha

the recall is about ignition switches. There is zero contribution to this forum or anyone's knowledge base to over emphasise the issue. I have an 04 Redline the switch has not functioned right from the get go, its not a deal breaker and if you dont hang the world off your key little chance of issues. The Redline keeps running momentarily after switch off as the plunger and spring is not strong enough to return. As for airbag deployment failing which is an issue, if you wear your seatbelt its a non issue imho. I dont run a drivers side airbag for various track related issues.
The power steering electric motor recall is old news. Mine failed a few times on the race track and fortunately I was strong enough to keep it off the guardrail. For most folks the failure is not a big deal the ps fails while parking and the warning lights come on. "brakes done work" bs. Nothing to do with anything.
If you are fortunate enough to get a rental, bear in mind it will likely be in better shape than your 4 - 10 year old delta, so complaining about the free transport you are getting doesnt sit well with me, frankly.
Get over it and move on. Contact CED if you are fortunate enough to live near them, switched on dealer. Otherwise, check your local dealer.
If you have not had a recall notice, please make sure the paperwork is in order for your car....visit a dealership and have them check the VIN they need to do that before they order parts, regardless of your receiving the notice.

Hello Heeter,
I see you have not received a notice yet. Please check with GM of Canada to make sure you are associated in the system with your name, address, and VIN. GM of Canada can be reached at 800-263-3777.

Hello All,
I just wanted to reach out to you in regard to the Ignition Switch Recall. In your letter it will state, "Parts needed for the recall repairs are becoming available for dealers to order. Please contact your GM dealer to schedule an appointment to have the recall repairs performed on your vehicle." Please be sure to order your part at your local Chevrolet dealership since the parts are VIN specific. Let me know if you have any questions.

This recall is way overblown IMHO. Yes if your key turns back you lose p/steering and p/brakes, same thing that happens if you run out of fuel or have some other mechanical issue which causes your engine to shut off.
Anybody that can't get a vehicle safely to the side of the road with out p/steering and p/brakes has no business being on the road in the first place.
As for the airbags not working, wear your seatbelt.

Still waiting for parts, car sitting at chev for 2 months...rotors rusted to ****. Chev saying they won't fix the damage car incurred in issue or the damage it incurred since rusting out to **** waiting. Got a feeling my lawyer thinks different....
