SERIOUS issues with my cobalt, need help IMMEDIATLY

So first, this morning I walked out to unlock it, it wouldnt unlock. So I used my key and just manually did it, then the alarm started going off. The alarm turned off after I shut the door but when I got to work I put it in park and the little button on the gear shifter is pressed in and won't release itself. It's in park but my key will just allow itself to come out at any time, when it's in accessory mode or RUNNING mode. I can't get my car to completely turn off so as of right now its sitting in my work parking lot in accessory mode. I'm freaking out because I just freaking got it and now I'm gonna have absolutely no battery when I get off work

HELP would be appreciated!!!!

Almost sounds like a low voltage condition? Just throwing an idea out there. Warranty?

Try pumping the brake and pressing in the gear shifter, then turn the key off, that should do it. Its happened to me many times. As for the remote not working, thats happened to me too, i brought it to the dealer and they fixed it for free under warranty.

As long as it's in ACC, you should have Rundown Protection.

yankees, you saved my LIFE thank you so much. I just tried that and I kinda messed with it, turned it on and the gear shifter would let me move it down to drive and up to reverse freely without stopping so I put it in neutral and just started moving it a little, reversed a little pulled back in and it released. So now I won't need a jump when I get out of work today

I only mentioned the thing about the key fob not working too because I thought they might be connected, like maybe my car thought it was being stolen or something lol. But seriously thank you SO much.

well you have a btsi solenoid problem which means you need a shifter i work for a chevy dealership and have replaced the shifter for this problem about 20 times already and the key fob thing is a rcdlr problem just needs a new one with a new transmitter so if your under warranty cool but if not sorry and sometimes if you beat on the shifter it will release the button the btsi solenoid gets jammed up

have you spilled soda or anything else down into the shifter?

take a small flathead screwdriver to open your remote and see if the battery contact falls out......I bet it does! lol
