Slower than Average 2.2 Manual

Hey Everyone,

I have a 05 Cobalt 2.2 Manual, and for some reason, it just seems to be slower than most other Cobalts. From what ive read, most Cobalts average around 8-8.5 second 0-60 times. Ive been averaging about 10.5 seconds. I have an aftermarket catback exhaust and a K&N Typhoon intake. As far as I know, I have no mechanical issues, the car was inspected recently and nothing was found wrong. I've tested the 0-60 on multiple days, in multiple weather conditions, with multiple drivers, and I have yet to record a time under 10 sec. What might be causing this, and how can I make back my lost power?

Thanks!

Altitude, engine wear, vehicle weight(including you) all affect this.

The real question is, why are you concerned about hitting an 8.5 second zero to 60? Trying to hustle dome D series del sols or something?

If I didn't think it was starting to reach the end of it's life (162,000 miles), I sure would haha. Btw, I didn't think about the fact that it would obviously have less power at that many miles...

Maybe the fuel filter needs to be changed

I just don't want to put the money into boosting it since I only plan on keeping the car until May-June 2017, I was just thinking small projects, like ^^^ the fuel filter! I plan on trading in the Balt and getting a MKV GTI, and trying out something new. Just want to rip around and have fun while I can before I switch!

New air filter, new fuel filter, clean throttle body, new spark plugs,

Wonder what your intake valves look like.

Air filter is good, don't think the fuel filter has ever been changed, so that probably doesn't help. Throttle body should probably be cleaned, and the spark plugs are fairly new. Thanks for the suggestions!

I'd recommend finding an LSJ over a Mk5 GTi, but that's just me. Cheaper to buy, cheaper to own/maintain, and easier to modify if that's what you're into. Sorry to derail a little. Oh, and doesn't look like an egg.
