So, this weekend I'm changing my oil..

for the first time. Just wondered if anyone knows off the top of their head the filter # and how many qts it takes. I'm just too lazy to look

LS takes 5 quarts.

oil filters FRAM is CH9018

Are you changing the oil yourself? Make sure to post pics after you are done!!

I believe all Cobalts take the same filter, #457

They all do take the same filter. Although I'm not sure if there is a signifigant difference between the oem and aftermarket filters. The all look pretty much the same.

I miss changing oil on my 2.2... was a walk in the park compared to getting to the filter behind the sc lol. Last time When I was feeding the extension down my socket came off, and It fell deep enough where I was just barely able to touch it with my finger tips... took me an hour to get it out. i was almost ready to say **** it and leave it there lol

of course i'm doing it myself first time, but i can change the oil on my GP and dodge dakota, so it shouldnt be too hard. heard through the grapevine i dont have to go underneath the car to get to the filter

i'll end up going with fram, thats all i use on all my cars.

lol i'm tiny and my hands are little so im not too worried about it :p

Ah anything but the SC is a walk in the park

Usually takes me longer to drink the beer than it does to actually change the oil.

Hats off for doing it yourself though

When that happens I usually use my magnetic grabber, but the socket I have is aluminum.

yea well it was wedged in there pretty good, the magnet wouldn't get it out lol
