So if you own one it's better to just keep it.

Or wreck it . When my SS was totaled, I got 2k more than what I paid for it 2 years prior!

S/N, I heard GM told all of the stealerships to stop selling the Chevy Cruze because of an airbag issue? At this point, with that huge fine and all of the attention they got with the ignition deal, I think they are recalling any and everything for anything...

More stupid kids can afford them, and they will total 90% of them. Then at least those of us that will never get rid of ours (like me) will have something really rare. Still not worth ****, but pretty rare

2nd that, that's my plan! I used to see nsrt4's all over the place, and actually looked for a good unabused one before getting my tc, ( mopar man at heart) but couldn't find one worth owning. 3 years from now these will be the same, if not sooner.

i had heard they're also not selling the malibu too because of recalls or something. on the note of rarity while i can't see how they will ever be as sought after as the old american muscle cars it could happen i suppose. i don't know how many are on the road currently but you are correct on the ability to buy them for less will ultimately lead to the cars demise, because they'll all be in junk yards after some time.

truth, just like a lot of the "performance" cars of the late 80's and early 90's

Except that its quicker, faster, and handled better than any of them. Still isn't a car in its new car price range that could hang with it.

the handling better statement is a bit of a stretch there my friend, i haven't seen a cobalt yet that handled as well as a 90's import. In fact cobalt is probably one of the worst handling car's i have ever driven, and the steering ratio is HORRENDOUS.

X2. Nothing in the cheap fast segment even comes close for the price our SS's were.

The TC's pull over 0.9G on the skidpad stock and beat everything close to its price around tracks including many Evo and STi models.

He's talking about an SSTC. Not a base model 06 spawne32. Great handling car.

They are all built on the same platform, the SS/TC merely has a lot of "upgrades" to an already cheaply designed suspension for an economy car. Also how many G's a car can pull is not indicative of how well it performs at the track. I was also comparing it to performance imports in the 90s, not what it was up against in the 2009 car market.

I'm pretty sure G's are the most basic measurement of how a car handles.

...and you think 90s imports went around a track faster than Evos and STis? You must be joking.

Almost no matter what you buy and drive, you will take some kind of hit on reselling later. 2 years ago I sold my optioned out low mileage Nissan Titan 4wd for 5k under NADA. I bought my ss because it was cheap and fun to drive. When the time comes to sell or trade, I know the market already sucks so it wont be such a kick in the *****.

Pretty sure evo's and STI's are in a class of their own my friend lol they're both almost 40,000 dollar car's and AWD turbo built specifically for rallycross. And your right, G force is the most basic measurement of handling, literally "the most basic measurement" and not a reasonable representation of overall handling of any car. GM uses the mcphearson strut design for one reason, it's cheap, and easy to reproduce. Sure, it works sufficiently decent in this day and age as a cheap "sport suspension" but compared to other more expensive designs that were widely available on sport compact imports in the 90s, it can't hold a candle to it. Saying that a car is faster going around a track can attribute to alot of things, just because the SS/TC came with more standard equipped horsepower than most 1990+ imports to get it around the track faster doesn't make it a handling monster. Typically reviews of the cobalt's suspension went like this "excessive body roll and numb, oddly boosted steering". Completely stereotypical of the mchphearson strut front and semi independent torsion beam rear, same setup that came equipped on the cavalier, just updated for modern car's.
