Thumbs up Successful Install!

So, I got my GMPP touring exhaust in last week, and I decided to install it yesterday. I went out on Saturday and made sure I had everything that I would need and then some: a hydraulic jack, jack stands, torque wrench, Liquid wrench, and last but not least, a Sawzall. (BTW, sawzall's are awesome )

Well, the install went about as smoothly as one could ask for (much better than my strut bar install: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/suspension-67/just-few-nuts-bolts%3B-how-hard-could-45449/ ); the two bolts on the stock exhaust came off fine, the sawzall went through the pipe like a hot knife through butter, and within a pretty short amount of time, I had finished the install!

This was the first major thing that I have done to my car by myself, and I'm psyched! The exhaust sounds awesome. Right when I turned the car on, I knew I had made a good choice. It sounds very deep and agressive, but at the same time it is mellow when driven "normally" and doesn't annoy you on the highway.

For anyone debating whether or not they should get one, I say go for it! Also, if there is anyone out there that is hesitant about doing the install on their own, let me just say that if I could do it, anyone could! Literally, all you need is a jack, jack stands, a 15mm socket, and something to cut the stock exhaust with. The instructions are perfectly clear and simple; basically, there's really no way you could mess this install up. I give this product and the install instructions a big, big thumbs up!

Edit:Check post #18 for a comparison pic!

Awesome - I'm thinking of going to the touring as well. I want something that's going to give me decent gains but only be a bit more agressive than my 2.4 stock exhaust. I too hate drone on the highway..

Sweet, that's good to hear. Anytime you can do the work yourself, just think of it as your paying yourself $70/hr (or whatever your shop normally charges) to do the work.

Then this is the one you want; same gains as the performance one, but not a cop magnet .

Aweome, I'd love to hear a sound clip sometime - maybe even from inside the car.

I'll probably try to do that when I get the full exhaust on. Sometimes it can be hard to distinguish the intake from the exhaust when you're in the car and above 3K.

So the Touring exhaust is quieter than the performance exhaust?

Thats right. Its also more expensive, but I wanted it because I didn't want to be too conspicuous.

Beat me to it, CT. BTW, I can't wait to see what I put down on the 21st!

Oh, and psuphiman, you and I have the same philosophy about modding; I just want to have fun and learn alot. IMO, this would be a great first mod for you. It was really simple, and I had fun getting my hands dirty.

It shouldn't; they are rated for the same hp gain. Its all about a person's preference for the sound.

No problem!

I love it how the police go after the compact scene and let the Harley's and the trucks with straight pipes right by.

As far as exhausts, if you want to go aftermarket but noise is a concern, I would venture that your best bet would be the GM touring.

Here's a picture I took today; I wish I had before and after shots, but I think you can see the comparison pretty well.

Man, those stock mufflers are ugly!

doubt you'll be getting 12whp. I'd say a good estimate for exhaust gains (depending on brand and your car) is anywhere for 6-10whp consistent (given your supporting mods), 12 on a very high side.
