thinking of buying an ss s/c and modding a bit, advice?

hi-
i just joined this forum few days ago after seeing an ss s/c at a local dealership and started to get really interested. i have a little bit of familiarity with some of the supporting vendors i see (pfyc, sfph and tog) and a few parts here and there, but mostly from my boyfriend's gtp. i have never modded a car, all i have now is a zx2. i was thinking of doing tog headers, cai and smaller pulley. so here's my question(s). am i going to bite off more than i can chew if i decide to embark on this? are there better routes to go? my bf knows alot about the 3800 engine, as well as knowing alot about chevy motors and having several friends that know alot also. i don't want to do some half-a$$ed job with it and look stupid, so i wanna know what i'm doing, or at least have someone that i can ask questions of. any advice would be cool before i make a decision to buy, which probably won't be till next year cause i wanna get my research down first. also, i want to make sure whatever i do will still be a fairly reliable daily driver, at least in the summer, as i will still keep the zx2 as a beater. thanx alot.

welcome aboard. not everyday you seen women joining. we need more females , in any event. the ss/sc is a wise choice if your looking for practicallity and performance. It's gas mileage is good and the power add-ons that will be available for this car will be crazy once the markets pickup.

You can't go wrong with a GTP either. Wise choices. Big bowtie fan are you?

ford convert. literally everyone in my family has escort or focus, so when i bought a car out of high school i got one too mostly cause i have a bit of an idea about what wears out and what doesn't. i like to have a little bit of a clue so some sketchy mechanic doesn't try to screw me over. ford doesn't really have much out right now that really gets my attention, cept for the mustang but the gtp guys seem to kick their ass quite a bit. my bf is a gm man, so i've learned more about gm engines so i'm going more that route now. i was thinking a gtp or a monte mostly cause of the motor in it, but he's been trying to steer me out of the w-body to something a little smaller, casue i like zippy little cars. i think he's afraid i'd wanna go as far with a gtp as he has.
