for those that have ordered already

for those that have ordered already
Just wanted to let you all know that pricing info is out there for the dealers. If they are telling you they don't know what to charge for options or even the base MSRP they need to get on the phone with GM, because the info is available. I ordered My Cobalt last week and the dealer had no idea about prices or options they knew nothing of the car. It only took a few phone calls from the Sales manager to his contact at GM and everything I needed to know was made available over the last week.
The dealer sent the order in to GM yesterday with no problems. This morning when I went in to put my deposit down I was given exact prices for all the options I got, along with base MSRP. Here is what I paid
Cobalt ss supercharged $21,495
destination $500
sunroof an XM $1050
the Total msrp was $23,045
Since the sunroof and Xm were free with the promotional deal and I got them to take $500 off the price( I can't beleive the did that on a brand new model but don't be afraid to ask they did not hesitate to deal on price a little with me) I paid $21,490.
I also have $1,300 discount on my GM credit card so I am hoping that they offer a discount of $1,000 like they do on the cavalier. that would make the final price $20,490 I feel the car is well worth that.
Also I was told that the were able to only order a few SS supercharged and they will be very limited production for a while.
Hope this helps some of you. Jeff

I'm hoping to walk in, after they've been on the floor a few months...cash in hand...and somehow talk them down to 20k. But..I don't want any of the options really. No XM radio..no sunroof....just the seat inserts..but as far as I remember, those come standard. We'll see. As they say, money talks.

Yep you're right, the seat inserts are standard. Getting them to drop 2K off MSRP (21495+500 destination) could be tough, but I have no idea how much "spread" (margin) they have in the Cobalt. Could be that it's decent because it's a premium small car for GM.
