total crap. just be a complete dick in terms of arguing with the dealership without crossing the line and theyll get the picture. make them think you absolutely want to buy whatever car but there is no way your doing it without a good trade in deal. takes some time and effort to work them, but if you control the situation; they're car salesmen, they want to make a sale.

You just gotta be firm, and have a realistic, not crazy number that you'd like to get... I mean i got 4,000 more then i should have... And then my car sold 4 days later for 13,995... I stopped in and saw them sellin it and said told ya it would sell...

they will start low, but not dumb low......don't be so nieve(sp?)

and yeah i think most of us know it depends on the market and what kind of car, etc. but either way you have to work the dealer to get the best possible deal for the current market value of the vehicle.

Also right now is a good time to buy a car for year end deals... I may go to the pontiac dealer cuz they said they're practically giving them away to get rid of the last ones... But when i bought the endeavor they knocked 4500 off the top, then some more rebates, 0% financing, sticker was $40,812.. Out the door at $33,500

agreed....my point was to state that the trade in number...will always be less than a retail number
there are other things like overshowing etc......the trade value itself isnt the most important thing.
Its how much you are writing a cheque for.......
if trade sucks then get a big discount on the car ya know whut i mean?

When did they offer you that.....recently? That's outstanding ......You should have jumped on it that day if your seriously contemplating trading . They must have to meet a target by years end ....... or are actively looking for an SS/SC for one of their used customers.

idk what i should do. maybe i should just try and sell it outright? I have a dealership that will sell it for 14000 and keep 2100. so that means i would get 11,900. should i do that?

The only difference being that they went over the roof... some old guy drives the car... right before I put mine away, he'd eyeball my car on the way by...
