Three trips to the dealer for a spiders nest
It has been almost a month now, and my car was in and out of the dealership three times for the p0446 code, and not being able to fill up on gas (the pump handle would pop/stop). First they replaced the solenoid, then the pressure release valve, and finally today...they told me this...
WTF?!?!
"I've seen this a lot on cobalt's and equinox's. It's a poor design but the vent tube is open to the atmosphere"
Riiiiiiight...spiders nest...
But they did fill up the tank half way to see if it was releasing pressure correctly, which it was. Then I topped it off when I picked her up...no code and filled up no problem...so I don't know if it's complete bs or what. This is the most technical explanation I've ever seen.
WTF?!?!

I had gotten a cel, but had no problem filling up. Brought it in to the dealer and they cleaned out the fuel tank vent tube under warranty. All is well (the top of that vent tube is supposed to be near the filler neck, UNDER the sheet metal!).
The tech who worked on my car said that this is happening so frequently on cars with this system, that they were seriously thinking about coming up with a "fix" for the problem themselves. LOL
