Time for a tune!!! Help me

I know there's probably millions of threads on out this but making this thread I can get all my questions answered in one place...

I know the difference between trifecta and hptuners and that's hptuners is way better but I want to get a tune and I was looking at the zzp turbo PCM. How does it work? Do you just plug it in and go? How much whp and tq can I expect with a zzp downpipe and a k&n CAI? What do I do with the tune if I decide to upgrade more? Also what's the difference between getting this pcm in the mail rather then driving up to zzp? This may be the dumbest question ever but can I still drive my car without the pcm in my car? My answer is no.

I know it's a lot of questions but I know you guys can answer all of them.

I hear the zzp pcm tune is a canned hp tune. Others with this mod will chime in later. But honestly I would wait until you have a day off and just take a trip or buy hpt and get remote tuned.

I never had a ZZP canned tune but I have had the PPC tuner and a good HPT tune is great. the main difference is with a custom tune you can get the MAF dialed in perfectly VS a canned tune it will just be close

My first tune (not counting GMS1) was the ZZP canned tune on a separate PCM. It offers a nice power increase versus GMS1. However, like others have said, you should really get a custom tune eventually. Not necessarily for more power, but more for safety. Every car is different and a one-size-fits-all canned tune is simply not the best.
If you do get a separate PCM, you can switch back to your old tune by simply switching PCMs.

I don't really agree with the canned tune being unsafe comment I believe the supplier of the canned tune should have a safety factor in mind with it being universal and not have a very aggressive timing map on it so a custom tune should be able to get the MAF dialed in better and most likely run more timing

I personally wouldn't waste my time/money on a canned tune.

Then my next question is... How much would getting a custom hptuners tune from zzp cost? The pcm is only $129

Well you have to have or borrow an HPT cable unless you drive to ZZP

If you buy the STD HPT you can get a custom tune without having to drive there

I got the zzp PCM today after ordering yesterday and damn does that thing make a big difference! On WOT my boost was hitting between 22-26 boost. I did spin the tires in first and second gear but I'm sure I will get used to it and learn to not spin the tires out. Now my question is... Is 26psi of boost safe?

Then don't mod your car if you don't even have $500.

There are a ton of mods under $500. And I just moved into a house so that's where a lot of my money went

First I wanna say it is great to see another Toledoan here on the forum. Secondly you are right there are a lot of mods that can be done under $500 and that $500 tune will make it run better and safe. Depending on mods, Example I am running Exhaust, Header, and Ingen Short Ram Intake, I haven't got it tuned because I am NA. I don't see why I should tune now and retune when I boost. And you made the right choice going to ZZP. You can really mess your car up if you try to tune yourself and don't know how, also canned tunes are generic were ZZP tuned your car specific to you.

There are plenty of people that ran more than that. I being one of them. I didn't see you say anything about the GMS1 MAP sensors. Do you have those installed? If not, you might want some

I was looking all over the site for people from toledo and found nobody so I guess your the only one. And I feel like your right zzp is the way to go and I think I made a good choice with my $139 PCM vs a $500 or more tune
