Post Totaled or repairable? SS Accident

2007 Chevy Cobalt SS was hit broadside at 35 mph by a new chevy camaro.
Does it look like it will be totaled? Or is this damage easily repairable? The total value of the car in excellent condition is around $12,000.

I had a hit like that on my 07 SS/NA but it was on the drivers side and about a 1/2 a foot further back. It was about $7,500 worth in damage. All in All in wasn't totaled for me, but every wreck is diff. It was repaired by a local chevy dealer. Hope everyone is Ok either way, GL with everything!

Most accidents are repairable, it just depends on if the cost of the repairs will outweight the value of the car, in this case most likely, but it really depends on how much underlying damage there is. The frame is most likely bent a lot, so it's more than likely totalled. Sorry bud

So you guys think this would be repairable? I assume the car is worth around $12,000 before the accident so the cost to repair would have to be around that same number in order for it to be totaled, am I correct?

I am only worried that the main body of the car near where the door latches is pushed in almost half a foot and it looks like the rear axle is also bent.
I know these things can be repaired but I guess it comes down to cost in the end.

theoretically yes, however, I assume the $12,000 is KBB value, which there's a 99% chance that your insurance company won't see it as being worth that much. Sad, but they almost always undervalue the car, saves them money that they have to pay you, and there's really not much you can do to argue with them.

I think a lot will depend on your states laws. In OK if the damage is greater than 50% of the vehicles value then it is totalled

If theres no underlying damage or frame issues id say its reparable. From the pics it looks like a door skin and part of the quarter panel but its hard to tell from pics.

The way it looks in the pics maybe the rear axle geometry just might be comprimised as well. keep us posted.

Glad your ok though.

Depends on how much of the value of the car your insurance will repair.

My insurance will repair a car up until 75% of it's value, after that they total it.

usually an insurance company will total a vehicle when the repair cost reaches 70%-80% of it's value

Totaled IMO

Door and quarter need to be replaced, Rear axle is out of place. The jamb is going to need to be reworked and can't tell from the pics, but is there any buckling in the roof?
