trade my '06 ss/sc for an 07?
Im looking for advice on trading in my '06 ss/sc for an '07 ss/sc.
My '06 has limited slip with recaros plus a sunroof upgrade. I am on a 4 year lease (24000 km/year, employee discount) and pay $388 inc tax and everything per month (canadian dollars).
My thoughts are if i can trade in my '06 for an '07 and not take to much of a loss (other then losing the lease payments I've already made of course), then i can get dealer/factory installed GM stage 2 plus remote start in an '07 without having to pay it all upfront.
I realize by reading all over this forum that it can be cheaper to get the upgrades if they are custom and not done through gm, but i can't afford that upfront. I can afford a few extra $ per month.
Some downsides i see, after talking to a chevy salesguy, are that the '07s starting now will not have recaros (i can live without) and also won't have limited slip!
Is it worthwhile to have stage upgrades without limited slip as far as performence goes?
By the sounds of it I probably won't be able to afford an aftermarket LSD.
Let me know what you think. If there are any more pros and cons that i don't know about feel free to add them.

1. No matter what they are telling you now you will get raped for breaking a lease 3 year's early.
2. If you were planning on modding the car you would have been way better off purchasing the car.
3. I can pretty much guarantee that a dealership will not install remote start on a stick shift car.
To sum up, NO NO NO don't do it.

No matter what you do, you're going to lose out. I traded in my base 05 after only 6 months of owning it for an 06 2.4 SS. I took a $3000 hit. My payments went from $223 a month to $340 excluding GAP insurance.
Since it is also a lease, you're going to have to pay fees, and pretty hefty ones at that.
I'd say stick with the one you have now. Only reason I traded up was because I wasn't happy with the base and I also got a well paying job so an extra $117 a month wasn't going to break me.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do though

Well i guess i got mixed up with the remote starter when i was reading about it. Makes sence that it wouldn't be on the ss/sc because its manual transmition.
Im in ontario and its already starting to get cold in the morning! Was 13C when i got in it at 8:30am this morning... so it would be nice to have in the fall and winter season.
So it is quite clear that i need to find a way to get more cash to pay upfront (or clear my visa) and just pay for upgrades as i can afford them!
Thanks for the help.

In the US, you can try to cut a deal with the lease holder at the end of the lease to buy the vehicle...
Usually an SS/SC cobalt will depreciate pretty strongly. Check the market out at the end of the lease for the value of your vehicle...see if you can cut a deal for a few bucks less than that...
Assuming you still want it in three years....
