Yeah lets not forget that beautiful name comes with a big price. My car is well rounded, and I assure you in 2 weeks I will beat any GT that gets thrown at me, weight distribution is all thats needed after getting it breathing right, afterwards its just a matter of more hp+tune, its real cute when people are so naive they think mustangs are so godly. I really have no idea why that is. If you want an american muscle car learn to get it right, SS chevelle, maker? Chevy plain and simple, and I could care less about you saying hop off the chevy wagon, my entire family owns chevys/fords, nothing else. Unless you count the Harleys, but thats another story. The only car I would allow anyone to buy and talk **** about other cars being weak is a ferrari. Until that day, your car is no better then a geo metro. That goes for cobalts included.

I would trade the SS/SC in for a mustang GT 2001 and up in a heartbeat considering it had low mileage.
Stock for stock you can take a mustang GT 2001. Drop 1k into a stang and then drop 1k into a cobalt the stang will beat the snot out of that cobalt. There is no substitute for TQ.

The new GT's are faster then the SS stock for stock. Once you start adding mods it's up in the air.

Okay, first we need pictures.
Second, I would've held off and gotten a KR series that's coming out.
Third, maybe trade it on the new Camaros?
Congrats on the new whip. Quit stalling with the pics already ;-)

see, this along with other things tells me you have no idea what you are talking about. Stock and mod for mod an s197 gt is faster than a cobalt. Period. a stick/coupe s197 gt is just BARELY slower than a stock mach 1 if driven properly. I doubt your claims very much because i have driven both cars and can tell you a new gt is undoubtedly more powerful than an ss/sc. Not disrespecting the ss/sc, this is just fact. people break the 300whp mark and put down, eh 315ish rwtq with 600 bucks in bolt ons, your "friend" got ripped off. SLP LM's, tunable induction cai with xcal2, 93 race tune from bamachips, and some 4.1's and that car is absolutely capable of twelves. but obviously everyone's cobalts are faster than that.

It's not even worth trying. The majority of members on this board are so blinded by there cars that they think they're the fastest things in the world. The blind truth is that a 10 year old LS1 can smoke a S2 SS/IRL and that the performance they put out is nothing.

Hey lets stop with the bashing, let him have his opinion. I know that the 05-07 stang is faster, higher quality. Even though it is a Ford, very few complain of cosmetic problems. In my cobalt, my door handles paint was flaking off, so was my inside trim, and my front bumper was oddly crooked.
Here is a pic until it stops raining.

I think the mustang Gt's are sweet. I was looking at one today and I think cosmetically they are very nice looking and I wouldn't mind having one. I have no experience as to say how much faster the car is than an ss/sc but it is still a nice car. It is relatively quick and very good looking rear wheel drive car. If they weren't more expensive than the cobalt, I probably would have gotten one. Congrats on the car man.

Sorry, but those stangs are weak. The 4.6L from the previous generation only made 260HP? My wifes trailblazer LS has 291HP from only 6 cylinders!!! Just shy 9HP from the new 300HP GT. Yes I know the stang is lighter than the trailblazer.
But anyway, at least you kept it AMERICAN
My brother sold just sold his 01 mustang and bought an LS1 camaro with the 350HP SLP kit!!!
LS1 FTW
Good Luck with your new stang!

While i usually stay out of these things , i have to agree with onyxd . I really like my ss/sc , it's great for what it is , a FI 4 banger . I had a 95 Lt1 F-body (13.58@107) and my brother an ls1 f-body . He got his '00 z28 to dip into the twelve's (12.96@111 ) with an exhaust and intake. When is see these LS1 kill's posted by ss/sc's i often wonder how abused and high mileage they must be .

My brothers LS1 smoked me but I didn't use Nitrous. That thing pulls hard on every gear!! It has 135k miles on it and is able to spank the new mustang GT's and walk over the 260HP gt's.
Those LS1's are highly repectable cars. It's going to take a lot for an SS SC to beat one!
I'll post a vid when we go at it again but this time with Nitrous!
