Ultra-Gauge Installed

went out on a limb and decided to try out the ultragauge OBD2 scan tool. It cost me $77 and it has a $9 mail in rebate.. so might as well say $68.. All I have to say is I love this thing and wanted to get word out there. I find this better than the interceptors honestly.

Notable features:
7 Manually scrollable pages (with up to 8 readings you can monitor on each page, all custom to your liking. heck, even if you have two interceptors you can only monitor at most 4 readings at once!)
It can monitor anything an interceptor can (to my knowledge at least)
Preset Alarms w/ audible warning beep (just set values appropriately and if you exceed them it will flash on the screen and beep at you)
Code Reader/Clearer built right in (no more autozone trips to get codes read/cleared)
Its only $77 before mail in rebate!!!
Its really easy to make custom mounts for

Bad features:
functionality wise I havent found anything I havent liked yet honestly, other than the preset MPH warning comes on at 90mph and it got annoying listening to on my test pulls
having a color screen would be sort of nice, but at the same time I know the black/white one currently used keeps costs down and saving money is always a good thing in my book

That thing looks pretty good. I might consider this when I get tired of my Dashhawk. I just hate how the Dashhawk isn't supported for windows 7 so I can't modify my screen setups anymore. Can you change the screen colors?

No. Its stricly a black and white screen

from what I've read the developers of it tried to keep costs as low as possible while maintaining a functional product. A color screen would be cool but at the same time I like cheap things

I'll post up pics of that after work when I can go snap some more

all i used to mount this firmly in its current location was a .060" thick piece of 1" wide aluminum bent at a 90.. I took the steering column piece off, cut a slit in it in the appropriate location, slid the piece of metal through from the bottom, and the gauge has a back that I can get a picture of which slides right over the metal that sticks out. THATS IT! almost retarded simple

Pretty slick - I saw this recently, but I was unsure if it would pull IAT2 or KR on non-canbus cars. Are you able to get both of those values? I've had to do some full PID scans in Torque to locate IAT2 because I couldn't find it documented anywhere (BTW - 222006).

Does Ultra-gauge provide you IAT2 and KR?

Thanks,

^I'd have to check on KR.. havent had time to dig deep into whats all available, but its a massive list of about 60+ different readings. I'll get back to you on it and it may be different for LSJ's as the ecu is different but kieser (sp?) on here has his on his LSJ so best ask him for your particular case. I can look for you either way though, I know I'd like to monitor that as well if possible

but if you look closely I actually have my Ambient Air Temp (IAT1?) and IAT2 (post intercooler) on the screen in the picture. so I know those work.

Thanks for the feedback - but Ambient is actually that, Ambient (outside) - it should match your DIC outside temp. It is not IAT1. The 'Intake' temp is actually IAT1. I'm curious to see if IAT2 is actually seen by Ultraguage.

Thanks,

On the website says only the cobalt LS is supported. Does this work on LSJ/sc models?

I have this gauge as well. Just be careful not to scroll to page 7 if you customized your displays. This will freeze the unit and trigger a cel. Then you need to disconnect your car battery to clear the code and reprogram all your screens and remember not to go to page 7 again. After this happened I decided to just keep it as a code scanner and not use it as a gauge. This was on my lnf.

Thanks,
like I said, I'll look into it more. I really only got to play with it for maybe 15 mins so far. Ambient and IAT1's would be fairly close when moving so I still consider it a good tool. maybe I missed the IAT1 reading as I was scrolling through the list. I definately have IAT2 temps though

i scrolled through page 7 multiple times already without issues (granted right now I only have page 1 fully customized). not sure why yours is acting up. Possibly warranty issue with the gauge itself? I know of one other LNF member that doesnt have problems either

It's a problem for all ultragauges. They have a write up on how to fix it on their website. http://ultra-gauge.com/customer_supp...php?article=22

Maybe it's because I customized multiple pages? Idk

This is honestly a great piece to have. Me and three of my buddies all bought them at the same time (built ws6, sonic turbo, and built GTO) and we all love them! I have the windshield mount, but the wire tucked behind the pillar. Sits flush right above my RPD. Will snap pics when I get my car back!
