URGENT!! Exhaust Muffler Question..
Hey guys,
Very quick, but urgent exhaust question..
For now, I'm just replacing my muffler on my exhaust. JUST the muffler. Just for a little more flow and sound until I get the full exhaust (header - tip). So I was looking at a Dynomax Super-Turbo, Dynomax Ultra-Flo, or the Magnaflow one.. All oval style mufflers. The Super-Turbo may be a little too mellow and not hard enough.. But the other 2 seem similar.. The ST is 45, the UF is 90, and the M is like 120? Install will be reasonably cheap.. Having that said.. The oval muffler will clear everything in the area, correct? I don't need it resting on anything and melting ****.. Also, I know the tubing right before the muffler is 2.5 inch.. So I'd obviously need a 2.5 in, and is the tip inlet on the stock SS tip 2.5 as well? I'd assume.. I also need to know what the muffler should be to fit OEM style.. Offset inlet and center outlet? Or is it center inlet and outlet? And lastly, I've got the 2.4. It has the factory mesh grill thing on the rear bumper. There's a tube going from the muffler outlet to the tip inlet to bump it down a tad to clear the grill, we'll call it a bridge. You'll still need that correct, so it clears the grill? If so, it'll work perfect, right? I seriously want this to fit totally OEM, positioning and style-wise. So just hack to stock muffler off, then just weld the muffler on, then hack the extra tubing to use the bride and tip after the muffler.. Correct?
And have any of you used those said muffler on a Cobalt? 2.2, 2.4 or 2.0.
