So after reading a thread in the war stories section, it had a link to a civic thread. and I know alot of Honda Civic owners think our car is oh so slow, which is cool by me, I wont argue, i'll race.

But, heres some quotes from the post on the site:

The SS just has ss emblems, no wing, no big wheels and no s/c"

Most people dont know anything at all about the car. I have a bunch of friends with "hooked up" civics and they really had no idea what my car was capiable of until they were left looking at the ass end of it. A lot of people race the regualr SS and dont relize its not supercharged, they dont know their are 2 versions. Im not trying to knock civics or the cobalt ss/na, just the people talk **** about what they know nothing about, those are the funnest ones to beat on the highway cuz they get the maddest.

aint gotta tell me. ive had a turbo'ed civic pull up on me and tell my i have a 2.4 performance/apperance package ion QC. cause i dont have a wing or recaros. i have an 07 redline comp pack. the rare lsj. jus over 5,000 reldine built. in only 3 years. and people dont know what it is.

Yeah civic's and acura's owner make me laugh too! They really don't know anything about our cars around my place. Its fun to mess with them on the highway in 5th gear. Makes it a close race usually, as long as they really try and don't miss shifts that is.... lol

I know this has nothing to do with this story but are those Mazda Speed Protege's fast? I had one tailing me last week & I had passengers w/me that wouldn't approve of me racing w/them in the car so I didn't bother. This guy was driving his Mazda as if he thought he could take me.

the protege's come with 170 hp stock..granted its a turbo and could possibly upgrade and all of that.

Thanks, he had aftermarket exhaust, I don't know about the rest. Hopefully I see him by myself sometime & can find out how fast he really is.

I've always said you should know as much about your opponents cars as well as your car. It's good to know atleast how much power they are pushing, what they have engine wise and f/i wise if thats the case, weight and just general specifications.

But as I got older, I could really careless what a Civic has cause I don't feel I have any opponents anymore...we are all enthusiasts.

But yeah, not all Civic owners are ****** and say every car is slow, there are some that will admit defeat or give respect where respect is due.

I agree NJHK, Simply put, I actualy like the rare and unique Civic, and suprisingly enough, I do like the look if done right.


However, the thing that made me laugh at the post, that the reason why I posted it, was not simply to talk **** about civic owners, but to simply show how little they know about our cars which made myself laugh. and ive seen alot of civic owners post how slow our cars are, etc. its nice to see that and know they actualy somewhat fear our cars.

I used to be one of those cocky honda owners, talkin smack to everyone that would wave me away. But then my friend bought a cobalt ss s/c and i raced him from the line and raped him to about 70mph then he'd pull and rip passed me. and i was like DAMN! then he told me he was spinning the whole time and i called b/s. So we raced on the freeway and it was like i was standing still; then i belived it was fast. Not long after he totaled it then i traded in the SI and upgraded to the SS S/C. Now insted of racing everyone i wave the civics by and laugh, then i go EVO and STI hunting and let them get a good look at my sweet vision blocking wing.

Hondas are a lost cause there scene is dying away because everyone and there sister has moded a civic/integra and its a money pit. It takes to much time and money to build and make fast. I'm glad i'm done with all of it, I do kinda miss raw DOHC VTEC tho. mmmmburrrrrr.

i have a 06 civic Si, and i know the ss/sc is faster than my car...does that mean i wont try and race one...no. half of the ppl w/ any kind of car w/ MT cant drive it for crap.. have i raced a ss/sc. yes, a bunch of times..(my bro's car) and he spanks me every time. but ill get him when his clutch slips, or when he gets a flat tire or i get the turbo kit ive been eyeing. i have mucho respect for all cars, especially the ss/sc. PS. my bro has GMPP stg 2, 2.8" pulley, Ingals TD, Injen CAI, i have injen SRI and a short shifter, so he has a lot more power adders than i do. but its still fun, and both cars are great cars (civic and balt) and both will spank an SVT Focus hahaha

but i raced a civic in 5th gear once he got a little over a car on me i then put my car in 4th gear and it was by by little civic.

Then ya thats why you spanked him.
I raced the z the other day, he got the take off but we held together, some mods and ill be climbing on him. Overall he won that one. But didint spank anything haha

totally agreed. most people don't really know much about the cobalt, and just write it off as a cavalier. should have seen the look on the supra mkIII's owner's face when i smoked him at a light in my 2.2 the other day.

point is, people will talk, so what. i think it's funny how people will go onto a civic website, and expect not to see people talking about how slow the cobalt is... just like people on this site will talk about how slow the civic is... just like if you go to an srt4 site they'll talk about how slow the cobalt is.. .just like if you go on an sti site they'll talk about how slow the srt4 is... just like if you go on an evo site they'll tell you how slow the sti is...

I used to own a civic and had a lot of mods on it, but I was never cocky about it.I love cars, not just one make or model. The thing that pissed me off was that in my civic people assumed that I thought my car was faster than everyone elses and would try to make fun of it or whatever. And on the civic forums the majority are those that talk all the sh*t, but the few who actually knew about cars wouldn't, so don't bash civics, I have a lot of friends that have nice and fast civics, bash those individual naive owners.

there are always going to be fan boys, but on the forum im on most of the time, 8thcivic.com, the general consensus is that cobalt SS/SC's are faster than the new Si. i know a lot about the balts, prolly more than a lot of ppl on this site. i work on my bro's w/ him all the time.

hey i am a proud civic owner but nothing gets under my belt like when my fellow civic owners tell me i am no good i gone over to the other side of the force what is this force may i ask lol any way to eat at them even more we all hang out at parts store and its generally a honda store and i will not hang out there with my civic anymore my cobalt takes me there and when we r going to the track no onne wants me behind them they say that they r tired of me staying behind and passing them so hard that i would rock their cars but hey a car is a car to me dont care wha mmake or modle i just love cars
