obviously it's going to be biased on a car site that's for supercharged cobalts lol
If i was going to buy a supercharged or turbocharged car both stock the only difference was the method of forced induction, with the same horsepower, i'd go with a turbo.
turbo's have "more potential" seeing as theyres a huge aftermarket and you can slap a XX trim turbo on it, FMIC, plus boost control.
There is turbo lag, but in "race" speaking, it's not who beats who off the line, it's who beats who at the finish, a supercharged car will most likely KILL a turbo one off the line(depending on the size of the turbo/type) but the turbo one will most likely pass him 3/4 down the track. Turbo cars also have really great high end..not saying that supercharged ones don't.
Ofcourse everyone says superchargers are more american and turbo are more foreign so meh...imo i'd rather whistle than whine.
But seeing as all i have right now is naturally aspirated i'd whine like a bitch for a supercharger...

In my area everyone has a civic.. and hardly an of them are nice to look at. The ones that are nicer all have turbo's, and there's only one other ss/sc that I've seen down by my end of town. Up by 403 and dundas there's a few more.
I'm not too concerned with power atm, I'll wrestle with that when I have money and room for a second car so I can afford my project car having downtime. As for now, I'd have to side with the SC, it's unique to this area, and I can't get enough of the whine Too often I hear PSSSHHHH, and never a scream!

i just look at it this way, everyone has a turbo car around here, gti's, wrx, evo, audi's, srt-4's all of them, but when u hear my blower screaming people turn around and say WTF!??!?!? and see its a little 4 banger screaming, and say dam, like no one has ever heard the way a blower sounded since everyone has turbo, until i came along and modded some and that thing screams like no other, and im one of those people who likes to be different than everyone else, anyone else like this?

Im turboed....was an ex-srt4 owner and then i bout me a supercharged car,if i had a choice to switch out the supercharger,i would do it in a heart beat...plus turbo's respond better to mods and are much easier to work on
i gotta agree with NJHk on this...if u got a street driven car or daily driven turbo'ed car,ur not gonna put a t-61 turbo or anything of that size where it starts to spool at 4500+....those cars are for drag purposes or shows...something streetable is like a gt30,gt35r,16g,20g,all those turbo get full boost by 4000rpms,and still maintain good streetable performance with power

why would a turbo kill you on a road course or auto-x???? a properly sized turbo will be better in almost ANY racing situation than a supercharger. It's just the way it is guys. Don't come back at me with "no thats not true! TURBO LAG!!!! AHHHH!!!" i drive a supercharged car, i love the feel of a twin-screw, love the sound of the roots, and i love the power delivery of a centri car (so easy to drive), but turbo > blower 95% of the time. It's that simple. You have much greater efficiency, if you piece it together properly you can reach peak torque sooner, you can control boost levels more easily, etc.
uhhh...yea cause turbo 240's and skylines are so common...
if you can drive...turbo and supercharged cars with the same peak power levels... turbo > blower. you guys say, "well look at turbo lag until 2300 rpm's!" and whatever...how ******* often are you under 3.5k when you are racing in any type of race? I'll give you the answer...you should never be. So turbo car vs blown car, both should be in or near peak boost at all times.

Uhhh yeah there are actually alot. Where I'm from anyway. Am I wrong or do all skylines come factory TC? Cause every Gt-s and gt-r I've EVER heard were turbo'd.

First...learn the turbo types, theres plenty of types of turbos(ball bearing, etc) that spool up quicker, or slower, theres also a trim or size of turbo, the bigger it is the longer it takes to spool up. If you have a big one you'll be making more power but you'll have l more turbo lag, once it spools up it'll pull like crazy though. Some people learn by the twin turbo setups: The smaller one spools up when you push on the gas, therefore you get more instant power, while the bigger 2nd turbo spools up second and you have "less turbo lag" because when you would essentially have lag, you'd be relying on the smaller, first turbo.
Supras....ahhh
and afterwind, do you mean G85 in your sig? or is it some kind of joke i missed out on...lol

how are there alot of skylines in your area? and turbo 240's? 240's don't come turbo stock so all of those would have to be aftermarket, and the only gt-r's you could run legally have to be 15+ years old to get in as a classic, or they won't be street legal and i doubt too many people would have them.

maybe he lives in tokyo..
lol...some silvias were turbo stock. but that's not a "240"
but you can get GT-R's you just can't drive them until you do a left side drive conversion, which costs out the *******, which is why noone does it.

no...the drive side has absolutely nothing to do with it. You can drive a car with the steering controls on the right side, it is the emissions and safety regulations that are the problem.

really? had no idea about the emissions, when my neighboor was trying to import a GT-R he went to the courthouse/police station and the only thing they told him was that he'd have to make it a left side drive car and until it was he'd have to tow it everywhere..what emissions/safety problems does the GTR have?
