HELP my SS was STOLEN
Hey guys. Sorry not quite sure how this forum works but I need your help. My 05 Cobalt SS SC was illegally towed and sold by a tow lot in Northern VA in 2012 and I need your help finding it. I have no idea where to even begin looking. The police cant do anything because the case is sort of in legal limbo. There is no precedent but it will go a long way in proving impropriety and recovering the car if we can locate the car. Thanks for all your help guys. I have a baby on the way and the bank has my credit in the toilet because I am not paying on a stolen car.
Thanks guys--

It's been gone for 3 years and you're just now trying to find it?
If it was sold like that, i'd think that there'd have to be some sort of re-title process to be done to get it registered. That means that when they checked the original title they would have seen the lien from the bank. I'm sure the bank wouldn't look too kindly on someone selling their car, or if they were ok with it they would have told you that you don't need to pay anymore or updated the loan terms. Which means that it is more likely that your car would've been sold to someone not interested in registering it and went the way of all cars that get stolen and disappeared.
If what you're saying is accurate, seems that your only resource would be to talk to the DMV. I don't know the process of selling impounded cars, but I'd think for it to be legitimate then the DMV would HAVE to know about it. Either that or it was in fact stolen and you should have collected insurance and then you'd been done with the car and the loan.
It also seems like you should be talking to your bank more if they're holding your credit in the crapper because you're not paying. My take on that is that the bank wants their money, and either you have the car or it was stolen. It's not their fault that you don't have the car, but it wouldn't excuse you from the debt. Maybe they can work something out while you wait for a settlement, but just stopping payment and not working with them is a bad idea.

I like it with the wing better. Your car already has so much going on look wise, it seems like its missing something. Maybe if you threw a solid black low pro spoiler same colour as your wheels, that would look nice. Wingless is more of a sleeper look, and your a looong way away from looking sleeper,

Curious as to why it took almost 3years for you to realize it had been towed and sold. If you were in a legal dispute about the tow, the judge should of prevented any action relating to a sale. If you fell behind in your payments and the car was impounded and then sold well take it as a lesson.
Ive been in constant litigation with the bank and the tow lot for three years. Finding this car may point to impropriety on the part of the tow lot.

Axle seals, topped off trans.
Cost $15 for two seals and $30 for a quart of trans fluid. Dealer wanted $270 plus parts to do this. Hardest part was getting the seal to go in straight. I used a 2 1/8" muffler extension and a rubber mallet to hammer it in.

Went and ordered a few parts from my manager friend at O O O Oreilleys : front & rear main seal, axle seals, Oil Filter & Oil
They don't keep much stuff in stock for the LSJ, and a lot of the stuff we need (model specific) is just more readily available at CED. Like for instance, the oil cooler O-rings, or even the valve cover gasket are parts she couldn't even get at all.
Look for the videos of me racing her pink evo x in a few months, Im hoping I can give her hell on the interstate or from a 40 roll, I know theres not a snowballs chance in hell ill beat her in the 1/4 unless she bogs. Shell be faster then than now, but right now shes got CAI, Full Exhaust, stg 3 clutch, and stock tune last I knew, but shell be installing her MBC and getting tuned by MellonTuning so idk what kinda power shell be putting down.

But I dont think the average person would look at that car and think nothing of it.
Average people don't know the difference between "show" and "go".
Why do you think you see cars with stick on hood scoops?
And people that DO know something about cars, would know its an SS, and think its a least "quick", lol.
I say low pro spoiler same colour as wheels :

And in the second pic you posted of your car in the lot makes it look like the taillights are missing (or at least the passenger side one)
Is it out? or just look that way in the pic?
