Hello,
Anyone tried running 255/40/17 on an LT or LS? These came off my twin turbo Stealth that I blew up the engine on last month. Wheels were the right price and the tires are already paid for. They only have 2K miles on them. With the Stealth not moving for a while I can upgrade the looks of the Cobalt fairly cheap.

i think a 255 would rub like a **** if it would even fit. i'm sure your could get it under there with a crazy offset, but then you'd look like one of the mexicana-mobiles with 13" rims that are 15" inches wide lol

 

Even if you got that to fit, it would look very silly. That's way too wide and will give a huge overall diameter. I'd just try to sell them and then buy tires that actually fit.

I don't need to sell them as the Stealth will only be down for a few months. (Twin Turbo Stealth engines (in good shape) aren't sitting in every junk yard around the country) It was just the 205's on the cobalt look pretty damn wimpy when some nice Hi performance rubber sitting idle right next to them in the driveway. I miss typed the size, sorry. They are 245/40/17. If no one has actually tried to put bigger tires on the Cobalt I guess I'll be the first. If they do fit I guess I'll buy the Stealth some new sneakers when it's back on the road. Oh and if anyone was wondering don't go picking a race with a RT/TT or VR-4s they are in a different league then any Street legal Cobalt. When my Stealth gets back on the road it be pushing 400HP with AWD and AWS. 05SDI
