What's Next

Hello everyone

I have lurked these thread for a little bit ever since I got my cobalt ss/sc. I havent really asked any questions or anything like that but here it goes.

I'm a "noob" when it comes to cars but I am learning things along the way with my cobalt.
My current mods:

-Stage II Upgrade kit from GM
-K&N Typhoon cold air intake
-Powerstop slotted and drilled brake kit

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now my question is what is next. This is my daily driver but, I don't drive too far to work. I'm trying to get as much HP as I can in my car without having with the internals(just yet.) I don't care about cosmetics for now I just want performance.

Current things I'm looking at:

Full exhaust system including headers
Megan Racing Coilovers

I just need some advice from someone who knows the car and can help a "noobie" out. Some questions I have are what exhaust system produces the most HP that I can get. Are Megan Racing coilovers good or not? And last but not least what else can I do to my car to get more HP.

If anyone could help out I would greatly appreciate it.

when I had my SS/SC i wanted to get ZZP's S3 kit with a 2.8 pully and run E85. you will be around 270ish WHP with that setup. Honestly after that there's not much you can do with the Stock Supercharger without it screwing up the internals.

But you need to ask what your goals are...if you want to stay with stock supercharger you can do what I said above and stay at that WHP. If you want above that you have to think about Switching to either TVS Supercharger, around 1800 bucks or Turbo kit. 3000+

What pulley size and what injectors do you have? Header and downpipe combo can gain you HP. Fully bolted with a 2.8" pulley and 60# will put you around 250-260wHP. If you want more than that go e85 or a small shot of nitrous.
And when you wanna make decent power switch to TVs+e85 or turbo

could always do a top end rebuild, ls4 throttle body, port the m62 if u wanna stay with that s/c. port ur head, cams, valve springs, retainers, and either neutral balance shafts or a balance shaft delete kit. could runa meth injection to help cool that s/c down

As for that yes once I get enough money I will be upgrading to the TVS. But that is way later on when I start to upgrade the internals.

Now I have the Stage 2 from GM. What is the difference between ZZP stage 3 upgrade kit and the Stage 2 upgrade kit from GM. Its the dual pass heat exchange correct?

Stage 2 upgrade kit includes:
1-12597994 Pulley 77.9mm (factory pulley size is 79mm)
1-12597993 Belt
1-12597995 Injector kit
4-12597996 Injector 42# (single service number)
1-19158223 Wrench (MT2)
1-19158224 Wrench (MT2)
1-12599777 Hub
4-19157352 Bolts
1-12602431 Label
1-12597997 Instructions

Upgraded Heat exchanger also, also the ability to run a smaller pully. 77.9 is 3.1 IIRC. I would recommend getting a custom tune with it and not the canned tune that they sell you to get the car going.

Also you get the choice to run 50, 60 or 80 lb injectors. If you want to go E85 ever in the future, I would recommend the 80lbs.

i'd swap to a better stg 2 kit with 2.8" and the 80# injectors, then get a decent tune for e85. add any cooling mods possible, the ottp stage1 heat exchanger is a synch to install (theres a how to on here) and maybe the dual pass manifold kit.
