the problem i can see is the lights you have used either are to high or are glued into the light in the wrong position. if the leds you used are to high then they will be sitting taller then the inner edge/wall of the reverse section allowing light to go over the inner circle.look at your picture and then look at mine...

yours,

look at the bottom of the light where t slopes, see how your leds are pangled higher then the inner cirlce.

if you look at mine where my finger is pointing, you can see how the end of the leds are siting lower then the inner cirlce.this is why i didnt come across this problem

mine,

see where my finger is pointing, how low the last light is posistioned and how low it is.this is how it should look.

how long were the strips you used? mine were 9 inch. that may be the difference?with using a gasketthe lense may not fit back on to the light properly.my suggestion is get a flat sheet on aluminum and cut a pattern out to wrap around that inner circle. if you want to do a qhiuk est fit grab a toilet paper roll ,cut it in half in the middle so you have to seperate rings and put one of the inner circle and see if that helps.if it does great use that or cut the pattern out of aluminum .

either way good luck and hope i explained that well enough lol

Wow. What a cool mod. I might grab some tail lights from somewhere & try this for a project. Great write up.

looks cool but looks like a tough job for 100%

There are more brands out now for leds
all u need to do is
a) buy them
b)plug them into wiring harness
they act as running lights and look good

how long of an LED strip do you need to completely go around the light. 9", 10", 11", 12"?

Just ordered this

Actually Oznium sells them up to six feet long. I ordered their 19" strips and cut them down so I could go all the way around my lights. The 9.5" strips won't make it no matter which way you do it. If they had a size between 9.5" and 19" it would be great for this because you only really need an extra inch or two to complete the circle.

so today i got this great idea that i want to wire my trunk lights so that they can work as running lights and turn signals and brake lights....but the tricky part is that when i hit the turn signal i want the inside to light up first and turn off then the outside light will turn on when the inside goes off....and back and forth

kinda hard to explain..but i hope you guys understand....now how would i go about doing this...can someone draw me a diagram?
