Interior: How To: Paint your dash
#426
adhesion promotor is not a primer or is it a clear coat. Its an adhesion promoter and thats it. Sand the plastic trim pieces, spray adhesion promotor on it, let it sit like 5-10 minutes, whatever it says on the can, then apply your primer/paint. It helps the paint stick to the plastic. If you try to spray it as a clearcoat, your paint will turn very foggy and milky colored

you can get whatever spray bomb you want man. They all will work just fine. Since your not holding your interior pieces up to your car, if the color is slightly off, you would never be able to tell. So any duplicolor/krylon black will work just fine. Just scuff up, adhesion promote, spray

I'm in the process of adding UV lighting to my interior and it's looking real bad ass. I'm thinking of maybe painting my dash to compliment the UV lights at night. I'm looking at these Night-Light and illuminate dupli-color products and i'm not sure if they would be good or not. Anyone know of any paint that really looks sweet at night on with UV lights and not look gross during the day?

just pull on them. it helps to have a panel popper thou
you want to get the long one on the pass side first (glove box down) then the short one by the steering wheel (popping the black piece under it out helps too) then the middle
there should be a how to to show u the exact clip locations but there arent any screws on those specific panels

I painted a second set of door pulls I have today. Gloss black Duplicolour Acrylic Enamel (already had it so tried it out lol). Worked pretty good. Sanded with wet 400 then did 4 coats. Was done outside so there is some dust under the paint, and I didn't let it fully cure before handling so when pushing buttons back in it left some marks. Will need to be sanded quickly with 400 or 800 then resprayed again but I love the look against the leather door panel. Will be looking to find a second set of the whole dash trim haha

Me and my ugly tan interior...I cant seem to think of one good way to make it look awesome. Id like to paint the entire dashboard, but I dont want it to be all shiny, glossy, and distracting while driving.

Did this yesterday and I went a different route with it. I used all duplicolor, used the adhesion promoter and all that, but didnt sand between paint coats.
This gives the pieces a non-super glossy finish, while still clear coated and finish-sanded with 2000 and some super-fine finishing fiber.
Semi-smooth to the touch, and it really lets the metallic in the paint come out. I'll try to get a pic later, but need to get a camera with decent quality instead of my cell phone.
