I agree that it's a pain in the ass because I just tried with hairdryer, got impatient, then oven and only managed to break some of those tabs off.
Ebay projectors here I come.

Im so happy with it, I used the oven, didnt take any of that **** off barely, but I got them back over the tabs, it was a pain in the ass, the whole process took about 4 hours of working time, of course we were slacking.

Yeah, I definatly don't have the patience for that, I wish I did. I need to re-paint the interior also because I made a nice little smudge when I tried snapping it back in place. (didn't wait long enough).

Why would you paint where the green is? Then your headlights would look bad and really dull. You do know that underneath that green is the reflection chrome right? Like it reflects the light and helps project it, and without it it would look like just a bulb instead of a light ^ ^

Question....what paint did you use? it adhered to the chrome plastic well? I would have expected you would have had to use some light sandpaper to scuff it up for good adhesion....?

Here are my painted lights. My roommate got a creative idea for the turnsignal. We left a lil more chrome than the ring on the turnsignal. Check it out.

I got them apart much much faster this time. Took me about 10 minutes with the hair dryer running into the side marker opening. Unfortunately it melted the sidemarker lense and the reflector. I'm gonna try to repair the reflector but odds are slim. But about 20 min of work this time as opposed to 2 hours last time. Just gotta start prying at the sharp corner.

How long will the 'balt be out of commission during this? Less than a day?

I am just worried that I will screw them up and end having to get new headlamps.

Which you should be doing anyways...ebay is your friend. Buying them through the dealer is like getting an ass raping.

Thumbs up

mine was in the garage for a day and a half

i toke thm out baked them in the oven separately for 10 mins each put in oven then shut off oven dont run oven while u are doing this
then take it out and slowly pry apart using small screwdriver to losn caulh (start in corner) thn i sanded th metal down note sand again with 220 or higher cause i did it with 60 and left it and i needed a lot of paint to cover and i sanded multipe times) then use black primer a couple of times sand if u want thn put on gloss black spray paint or watevr u are using put about 3 - 5 coats on then put 2 - 3 coats of clear 1st coat wait 15 min then 2nd coat - wait 15 then after the 3rd wait (can says 24 hours but i waited like 16 hours then Clean the inside of the clear lens for fingerprint marks i didn't do a very good job and left a finger print, put caulk around assembly and put in oven ( all 3 assembly's ) then push them together put black caulk all the way around ALOT OF CAULK IS NEEDED! then reheat in oven for a couple. then let it sit for a long time ( i waited like 4 - 5 hours but u are supposed to wait longer before you put it back in your car o well so there u go hopefully that helps u out

is there a way to knock out the amber blob thing without taking apart the headlight casing? cuz knowing me, i'd eff up the oven process and not seal it right and then the next few days moisture will accumulate =(
