i did mine first without removeing the headlight i cleared my headlights before painting them.

what i did was take a extention and a screwdriver your choice. and knock them out

here come the tricky part

you need a long ass pair of needle nose pliers and a pair you wont care about

reason is cause your going to take a propane torch and heat up the metal on the needle nose pliers and cut the plastic pieces and it will get messy trust me.

your best bet is to take your headlights apart and reseal them

my headlights i did not buy any more sealent or remove sealent from the headligh

what i did was the hairdryer trick removed them cleaned up the little strands adn left the rest painted the headlights and put them back by useing the hairdryer

if you are afraid of doing this and are willing to part with your headlights untill i can do them i will do them for you for free all you must pay for is shipping and paint and clear tape and such

OK man. Think very carefully about what you just asked us. Then take a very hard look at the size of the round amber piece and the only hole which it could possibly go through.

mine are painted thansk to 05 red rocket, looks sic, the only thing is one of my lights are brighter than the other, i read on another thead on how to adjsut but just wanna make sure, its the lil bolt at the back of the head light housing right? and which way do i turn it? the passenger seems higher than the driver side when against a wall and in a reflection from a glass door or something youc an really tell from about 20 feet away.
i will get pics when my cam is charged.
thanks in advance.

The passenger side is supposed to be higher than the driver side. It extends the beam farther down the road away fro oncoming drivers so you can see the white line better. The driver side is lower so you don't blind the oncoming driver.

true, but mine is really high it seems and from a distance, you can tell that one side is brighter than the other, all my other friends with this does no have that issue since they hanvt fiddled with the lights.

hahaha ya i guess that is a good point. reason i asked cuz what my friend did with his. he took his out, took a screw driver to and freakin' shattered his amber pieces as much as he could and just shook em out, which i'm thinking of doing

dude, you're awesome, my only problem is i don't got another driver. the cobalt's my main, but thanks for being totally cool and giving me assisstance. i am thinking of clearing them myself from what you told me. question is, when you mean messy, does that mean amber remains are gona be all over inside my headlight assembly and melted stuck into place?

Well... Popped the first one in the oven for 25 minutes, took it out, and..... it wouldn't come apart.

I put the second one in now... See if that works out better.

Well.. I finished a couple hours ago.

I also took an idea I saw with leaving "rings" of silver around the lamp housings... and it turned out REALLY good. I'll post pics tomorrow when it's light out.

A note on headlight aiming. The lights should be level with each other. They actually make machines that do this. I have used one numerous times (collision refinish industry). Just stop into a friendly body shop and ask if they have a headlight aimer. If they do and are cool, they'll do it quick and free, especially if you're a prior customer and don't stop in at 5pm on Friday. You'll be aligned properly and happy.

im doing the mod right now and it barely dawned on me to take pics.... paints drying as i type, and im gonna untape it soon and re-glue it back together... ill have pics on it after the process is done.. no use taking pics now, theyre already up on the beginning of this thread.... one more thing DONT TRY IT WITH THE HAIR DRYER ITS WAY EASIER DOING IT IN THE OVEN.. TRUST ME I TRIED BOTH

just finished and a good tip is dont waste your time trying to scrape out all the silicone in the assembly, recycle it.... heat it up again with either the oven or a heat gun before you put on the new silicon and it will actually help out so you dont have to use soo much new silicon.. worked for me... i even had enough left over afterwards that i shot a bead of fresh silicon all the way around both head lights again for ensured sealing
