i used this how to today to do a set of tail lights. after doin the 600 grit sand i cleaned and sprayed my nite shade and all you see now it the sanding marks from the 600 grit. i would use i a finer grit if i where you.

Painting is really hard to **** up. just make sure the light look good before you paint them and then go light with the coats until you are satisfied with the darkness. Finish it off with a few coats of clear and let them dry over night.

Anybody got any pics of what it looks like with just a coat or two on their car? Not looking for super dark.
Also, Talked to my buddy who's a local cop and says that here, as long as you can see the red to the light, you should be ok. Technically speaking, it is illegal.

NightShades is not red, it is black, this is a line from VHT's website: "This is an easy to apply, spray on tint for turn signals, taillights and any other lenses on your car/truck you want to tint." If it was red, they wouldn't list turn signals and any other light you want to tint. It is a black translucent spray.

i'm doin this on my car while i'm waitin for my pcm an stage kit to get back...any updates on a "how to" or better ways thought up since then?....i plan on doin both tails an fronts...i'll post pics when i'm done in a few days

Looks good! I will be doing this on Saturday! I can remove the head lights and tail lights and all that but how do I remove the fog lights?, not tinting those but I have to reseal them they are getting moisture in them!

just finished doing mine 10 minutes ago. 2 coats and it ended up being about this darkness except i didnt tape off the reverse. ill post some pictures tommorow when its light out. (i have a black 2.4)

sorry but im in a rush to go to work and didnt check the rest of this thread.... has anyone sprayed the nite shades INSIDE the lights and not on the outside? If so, does it look better, the same, or worse than when sprayed on the outside? I like the look, I just really want the factory glossy plastic look. IMO the clearcoat doesnt really help much when its sprayed on the outside....

it would make no sense to spray the inside of the light. They're plastic itself is red and it'd still look red if you sprayed the inside. you'd just have a very dull red brake light. pointless...
if you want the glossy look just wetsand inbetween coats.

if you want it to match the glossy look, throw a couple coats of clearcoat over them, that way you can wash and wax like normal paint
