It isnt SAI the only hose I have on that side of the throttle body is the PCV hose which if it isnt connected it wont pass inspection and it will dirty the oil since there is no vaccum to pull out the fumes. I have a 06, not a 06.5 What I was refering to was the bottom of the air box just below the filter where you have a tube going to the back of the headlight. The only heat source it has is the radiator/trans cooler which is not in the direct path of cold air.

Omg, I just finished removing mine. It was really hard. for starters its a screw thats under the silencer and and bolt that has to be pull out thats behind the silencer and below the intake filter. It was a pain tring to remove the screws and then tring to remove the silencer without out removing the bumper is hard. You have to take the top part off and then twist and bend the wheel base and bumper.

i did this a few months ago and took out the stock air filter in the box. put a flex hose on the end of the airbox that goes into the wheel well and on the other end just put a spectre high flow filter on it. sounds pretty beast for say 30 bucks? as far as gas mileage goes...well, i like hearing her purr when i get around 3grand so my gas mileage is always near 28 around town. but if i take it really easy..i got 40.6 mpg when i went to my gf's house which is 110 miles away. i was impressed. hope everyone likes this mod as much as i do =)

some people in the past have claimed that this mod helps gas mileage, I think we could all use a little help there. Has anybody noticed this and if so how much of a change? thanks

just did it today. sounds nice with my catback. only thing is i would mention in the intructions that you may have to take off part of the inner wheel well panel to get at the silencer's screw.

Wow.....I just did this, took about an hour and a half, 45mins to take it out and reassemble......45min joyride showing off the new sound. WOW, what a difference in sound, the mtor is so much louder now.....and response is so much better, between 3k and 4k RPMs is its sweet spot, GREAT MOD a suggestion for all........
NOTE!!!!
There is two screws holding the silencer One is a 10mm Bolt......the other is a plastic push thingy, Ill yank on it for 15mins trying to break it with no luck, Then I took 3 screws outta the wheel well, poped it back so I could see and pulled it out with a pair of pliers, under 5 mins, VERY EASY MOD LEVEL 1!!!!!

just did this tonight.....i went at it the hard way at first, couldnt get it out so i then loosened the wheel well and popped out the pin and it slid right out. BIG difference in sound and the response seems a little sharper. This is my first mod to my new cobalt, so let the rest begin!

Fairly easy to do...took me about 25 minutes. Took out the headlight and bracket and undid the inner fender liner. I did not have to take the front wheel off, though you do have to turn the car on and turn the wheel all the way to the right to get it. All in all it was a pretty easy mod. Thanks for the heads up.
