eg. to license a single vehicle (VIN) might be 2 credits, to get an unlimited tuning license (we call these year/model licenses) for the 2005 Cobalt SS (tune any 2005 Cobalt SS) might be 6 credits.
A credit costs $49.99 and there are discounts for bulk purchases.
There is also a migration scheme (called upgrade credits) that counts 75% of your investment in VIN licenses towards the applicable year/model license so smaller tunershops or weekend warriors can have a low risk, pay-as-you-grow entry into our software.
There is a FAQ here: http://www.hptuners.com/credit_faq.html
Software updates are FREE!
Cheers,
Chris...

However, to save changes or write to a PCM you must be licensed for both the PCM and the file you are writing to it (if the file did not come from the PCM then you need two licenses or the year/model license). At the moment you must have the year/model license for your PCM to write a compatible file from another vehicle to it unless you have access to the vehicle you want to license (you can't just license a file as yet). In a future release we will allow you to license individual files without having access to the vehicle.

Does it have the ability to save the stock ECU configurations, so you can re-flash it back into the ECU for dealership work?
Can I basically, turn the car off select the stock tune file, flash the ECU, and BAM i'm back to stock? Then later can I select my dyno tuned file, with the car off again, flash the ECU and BAM I'm running like a rapped ape again? If this is true, I will be buying one once it's released.

Ok,
A friend and I are each going to purchase the HPTuners. We both have RED 2005 Ion Redlines. He has the GM reflash. Will he be able to offload that file, send it to me using his software, then send it to me and I will flash my computer with it wth my software. Will this work? If not...how will I make it work?
Thanks,
Dan

Welcome HP Tuners! Glad to have you hear. Moderators, we need a tuning section.
Chris, when can I order HP Tuners for my 2006 LSJ? My injectors are maxed, and I can't put bigger ones in untill I can tune. Please say "now".

Just to give you HPTuner newbies some idea, on my 04 ImpalaSS, i went from 12.8@106 to 12.26@112 just be optimizing my tuning using HPTuners software. NO engine changes at all !!!!!!!!! That was on an already custom tuned PCM from a competitor!!!!!

I would highly recommend getting a wideband O2 sensor for tuning along with our MPVI Pro interface that lets you log the wideband data right alongside the vehicles OBD2 data. For boosted applications it is especially important to know you are not running lean.
Our forum has a 4/5/6 cyl tuning section at the moment, if we see demand for a seperate forum for the 4cyl's or specifically LSJ's then we can do that.
