Free INTENSE LSJ PCM & Dyno Tune
HP Tuners recently released their software for the LSJ engines, and this will be opening the floodgates for performance improvements in the cars with these powerplants.
After spending several hours on the dyno with one yesterday, we were amazed with how ‘touchy’ the tune is on these cars, and how much opportunity exists. But with literally hundreds of parameters to adjust, this is not a task to be taken lightly. And right now, there are many parameters in the code with incorrect or misleading nomenclature, and some of the scanning functions give inaccurate feedback. So it’s going to take a tremendous amount knowledge, ability, time and effort to get these tunes dialed in correctly.
In 2005, we dyno tuned 92 cars, and programmed many hundreds of mail order PCM’s. We plan to lead the way with LSJ tuning as well, and for this reason we’re now offering five free INTENSE LSJ PCM/Dyno Tuning Sessions. Ideally, we’d like to get one ‘guinea pig’ for each of the following vehicles:
2004 Ion Redline LSJ
2005 Ion Redline LSJ – Mike Vanderhorst
2006 Ion Redline LSJ
2005 Cobalt SS LSJ
2006 Cobalt SS LSJ
The ideal candidate will have the GM Stage 1, GM Stage 2 or INTENSE Stage 3 kit, have 42.5 pound/hour fuel injectors already installed and still be running the factory airbox. Exhaust and other mods are optional.
If you’re interested, please email me directly at ScottC@INTENSE-Racing.com with your name, the year, make and model of your car, your complete mod list, how close you are to Plain City, Ohio and when you’d be available for a few hours of tuning.

Yesterday Scott got my car to an amazing linear on the A/F ratio. There was 3+ gain in peak horsepower (only with tuning the air/fuel and not running it up to the 7000rpm. With just the tuning of the ratios he got a 45hp gain in the mid range though!!! Extremely noticeable and very helpful!!!

I've got a 2005 SS S/C. I'm in the Cleveland area. I'm not staged yet but have been looking into it, unless I bring it down and have you guys install the Intense Stage 3, then do the tests.
Also...
How long would you need the test vehicle? Why don't you want one with an aftermarket intake? I've got the fujita on there right now. But I still have my stock one that can go on it.

Thanks everyone for the tremendous support!
I'll be in touch with everyone over the next few days, as I try to catch up with my completely overwhelmed inbox.
p.s. - please understand that we're only planning to do five no charge dyno tunes initially. As much as we'd love to do a hundred for free, that's just not in the cards...

We just completed our first twelve hours of LSJ dyno tuning sessions, and we've learned a LOT! Rob Archer of Hoosier Performance and I worked together on the tuning, and with our combined experience we were able to make some great things happen. I was pretty pumped when I got home at 2:04 a.m., and I don't think Rob would have gotten home until almost five o-clock this morning.
The HP Tuners software is working quite well, and we're working with them to make it even better.
We'll be posting several dyno charts up over the next few days. You guys are going to be impressed by how nice we've gotten the air/fuel 'curve', and amazed with how much more area can be added under the horsepower and torque curves.
p.s. - we'd like to give special thanks to Mike Vanderhorst, Chris Kinzer, John Harbert and Dan Testa for donating their cars and time to this project, and for driving all the hours they did. Howard and Brian Turner of Dyno Tune Motorsports are always great to work with, so props to them too!
