So very, very true. Have you mapped out your route? I've got all sorts of routes mapped out for the trip that I want to take out there. I could give you some tips for Scenic Roads, if you want.

Actually... Route 66 starts real near you... and goes through to Texas and up to Chicago.

Will, that is a good route. Through Denver is AMAZING! Have you ever been out this way before? You will be driving right past my house once you get into Illinois! Be sure to have enough cash for the tolls, I think most of the tolls on that route are about $1.90, some are less, but best to have more than enough. Be sure to stock up on Monster before leaving Denver. When the mountains fade in the rear view, it gets REALLY boring until western Ia.

Haha, yeah, both route's are nearly identical, but 40 takes longer, and i've driven 40 across the country twice now. time for some change.

I've driven from NC to CA twice on I-40. Trust me, there is no state more boring than northern Arkansas/Oklahoma.
