After 2 days of hell the cars gods smiled today and blessed my cobalt with...
I went through hell just to get this cobra heat exchanger ... first a bid war on ebay for a week.... won the the h/e for $91 shipped, but the seller had two parts for sell and sent me someone else's ****! So that took about a month to fix and with the other parts I had to buy to make this happen totaled about $160
So with the help of my good friend Dave, we started to install this BEAST!!
just to give you a rough idea of the hell we went through.. and yes removing the fascia has to be done!!
Heat exchanger mounted:
This were things got a little scary... with the fascia removed we thought that we could use the stock heat exchanger as a bleed off...
well we found out the hard way that GM loctites the aluminum screw that they put in the stock h/e..... which means our night was done
the next day Dave gets a tap set and recut the threads in both the h/e and stock screw...
luckily the screw set perfectly with no leaks!!!
with the system bleed off we had the joy of putting the fascia back on with just enough clearance
popped my lower grill back in.. you will never see the h/e

I would say its pretty damn difficult! Way beyond anything I could have done without my friends. I noticed on the way home that the car was running aroun 178-183 .. about 2 degress cooler for my car.
Test time will be tues night at orp

that seems high. my car the setup that i have right now doesn't get above 180 unless i'm at a stoplight and it might go to about 185-188. but its usually around 177-179 while cruising down the road.

I'm paying the guys at work to detail my car, so you guys better not flake out on me! It's costing me $100 for a full detail which isn't bad.
Now if I could talk the body shop guys into painting my hideous, blotchy valve cover.....

I don't have all the supplies and always end up doing more harm than good to my car when detailing.
This is all basically to keep it clean enough for the meet and whenever I go to swap trunks at work. The sale's manager will be pleased with how my trunk will look and I will have myself a spoilerless trunk...>FTW....by next week hopefully.
Plus, I just received a good hunk of money today in my paycheck.

I've talked to my salesman over and over about it and he keeps telling me that I'm making a mistake. What he doesn't know is that I could trade at anytime. There's always someone looking to go wingless.
I might just have them do the outside of the car since I can detail the interior and I do the engine almost monthly. Seems like it would be a waste to pay for them to do it all. Oh well.
I hope no one minds that I'm a bit sick. I'll try not to breathe on anyone at the meet.
