this is going to be long...but you need to read it.
i called kentucky clutch today and asked them about getting a clutch for my car. they said the only kit they had was an 8 puck style disc (assuming this is the one you got) but it only comes with the stock pressure plate. so i proceed to ask them how much just the disc is and i will re use my pressure plate. they said they didn't reccomend that i do that. they said the clutches on our cars are self adjusting and there isn't really much of a way to change them back once they have adjusted. so, my pressure plate has already adjusted to my worn out disc and putting just a new disc in there will either blow your slave cylinder or make it to where the clutch won't engage. i don't remember his exact wording, but basically he told me that if im going to replace my clutch. its better to just do it all at once otherwise im gonna **** some **** up. he told me that a dealership came in and had them put in a clutch in a cobalt and they only put the disc in because thats all the dealership wanted. well...the cobalt ended up coming back and they had to replace some other **** on it.
what im getting at here is, could this possibly be the reason for the demise of your transmission?

EDIT: just re-read your post. yep, for the price, change the disc, pressure plate and bearing out all at once.

so whos the best shop in louisville to rebuild an lsj engine. just bought a yellow 06 ss/sc that had been stolen and was pretty much stripped. it had a turbo swap but all it has is the turbo manifold and some intercooler piping. body wise everything is there minus the hood and front bumper. all ready got all the new turbo parts setup just need someone to rebuild the engine and looking for someone to tune it. i heard some words about automotion but also was told they sucked at tuning cobalts. i went with a precision sc61 turbo, zzp dp and exhaust, 80pd injectors, and tial 38mm wg and tial-Q 50mm bov. also need a stock sc boost guage as its missing. before its asked i picked such a big turbo because i plan on building an engine this winter and sleeving the block, zzp rods, wiesco pistons, zzp stg3 cams and zzp valvesprings and retainers and tuning on e85.

a few of us have had our lsj's rebuilt at automotion on broadway.. being that they have done a few they have the sleeve puller and such needed to pull the sleeves. although i wouldnt recommend getting it tuned there.. if you need a tune, talk to james or chevycobaltss3 and see what he can do for you. he is very knowledgeable about tuning and dont mind helping you out. did you get the car local? and i have a stock boost gauge just shoot me a price i just need to install the mechanical one i bought
